About Wychwood Music

We identify only half-jokingly as “the world’s first blackgrass band.” As Wychwood, we play old murder-ballads and other spooky traditional folk songs, with some bright and sentimental spots thrown in for contrast. Some days we’re acoustic purists. Some days we like to corrupt traditional folksongs with bits of black metal, ambient, and noise music. We’re trying to make folk music dangerous again.

Our main instruments are banjo, guitar, and fiddle, but we also incorporate ever-changing smorgasbord of other instruments – saw, harmonica, mandolin, glockenspiel, bass, accordion, etc. We post music videos, live performances, and experiments to this channel.
