The founder of I.R.I.S. is Abbygale Williams. The last project she worked on was project Gaia. Project Gaia would have been able to reanimate deceased subjects and terraform entire planets. The project wasn't invented, because Abbygale was assassinated. Her race is technologically more advanced than the humans, because earth experienced multiple great extinction events.
I.R.I.S. is now in process of choosing a new Leader, for project Gaia. Isaac Williams, Abbygale's brother, is one contender. There are two I.R.I.S. facilities on earth. Both are in one country. In this parallel universe, france, britain (including ireland) and the east part of the USA are one country, called UNAN, standing for united north atlantic nations.
