In our times of overly obvious political commentary I’m reminded of what I believe to be some of the best political music ever made...Gorillaz 2005 masterpiece, Demon Days. Today I want to discuss its perfect fusion of intricate musicality, political commentary and stylish atmosphere. To celebrate Gorillaz’ new album, The Now Now, I’ve made a video essay discussing the political nature of Gorillaz’ 2005 album Demon Days. Gorillaz is a British hip hop band that’s released many famous albums including Gorillaz, Demon Days, Plastic Beach, The Fall, Humanz and The Now Now. They are known for their virtual characters, comics and genre-blending sound. Damon Albarn is the founding member of Gorillaz, the art is done by Jamie Hewlett. The virtual “members” of Gorillaz are 2D, Murdoc, Russell and Noodle. They were recently joined by Ace from the Powerpuff Girls. Gorillaz’ new album is hotly anticipated as one of the biggest releases of 2018.
