Papaya Seeds can be dried (baked) then ground into pepper. It's milder than regular pepper, but is excellent taste. I prefer it over regular black pepper.

Growing up in Jamaica, my mom would use green papaya as meat tenderizer for beef and pork. We always had a couple trees. It's easily one of my top tropical fruits to enjoy.
  • In Hawaii the Filipino folks make a great "chicken calamugay" soup with green papaya and moringa. This is the most comprehensive breakdown I've ever seen on one plant. Wonderful!
  • Your advice for planting makes SO much sense to me as someone who moved from NY to FL. The seasons feel so much different. Early winter in FL is like fall in NY. Late winter in FL feels like early spring in NY. Spring in FL feels like a very hot summer in NY. Summer in FL can't be compared to any season in NY. In NY, you have the chance of seeing snow 7/12 months of the year, and hail in the other 5. In FL, you have rain and sun at the same time, and the sun is trying to burn everything. I had to create a greenhouse style canopy with sunscreen mesh to reduce the UV scorching on my more delicate plants. I learned my lesson when I lived in Miami... even breeds deemed to be 'sun loving' keeled over and died in that kind of light exposure. I can 100% see the sense in when you said in the summer to plant like you're in Central America.
  • Hi, in my country, we make a delicious dessert from green papaya. It is the typical Christmas dessert -- for those who celebrate that holiday. Look for it, it's called Dulce de Lechosa. Finger licking good! 💚
  • @lymemj
Deeply appreciate giving the information specifically for Central Florida. Would love if you help us to learn how to grow all the other you have in your nice farm. Note: I was raised in South America and ate papaya all my life, and the only way green papaya was eaten was in a desert. Your recipe here was aweeesoooommmeee and gave me great ideas because I love doing stir fry of vegetables. You guys are the young people we want in our world ;)

Thanks so much for your video. I was just having a conversation with my wife who always wants Papaya for her digestion problems and she was telling me you can't grow papaya in central Florida. I live in Brevard county and can't wait to grow some papaya here. Also didn't understand all the other ways you could use the fruit for noodles, etc. Great information, I appreciate it! I would like to take a trip down there from Rockledge to check out your farm one day.

  • @dslgod
Thank you so very much on the cooking part. Did not know!
  • @simone222
Thank you for sharing such informative video on papayas. Delicious fruit. It has anti-inflammatory properties besides being rich in vit. C, beta carotene, and fibre. In my neck of the woods, we use unripe papaya to make pickle called atchara and also as a substitute to chayote in some chicken-based soupy dish called tinola.
  • I've never been a huge fan of papaya but it took about 2 minutes of this video and I'm sold. I gotta add some papaya to the garden
  • @clramos5034
Thank you for sharing your experience with a delicious papallas.💝

Great information, this really makes more sense than battling with cold climate vegies.
