Damn, so Steve Blum was gonna voice the MC of Gears. It's still crazy they never rehired him to voice a gear or locust in the series, he definitely had the range for both.

Steve Blum sounded good in this, but I'm really glad they picked John instead. John's voice for Marcus is incredible.

It's crazy how this was just one year before release, but they clearly had very little finished and even stuff like Marcus' face and voice weren't finalised yet. The only thing that seems to match perfectly with the final game is the logo, font and title screen. Even the graphics are much worse here than the final product. I can't imagine the crunch that must have gone into this game - probably Halo 2 levels of rush.

I had no idea this game was coming out in 2006. I was at EB Games and had the choice do I get Star Trek Legacy or do I get this new game everyone in the store is talking about called Gears of War. I asked the guy over the counter what he thought and he said, "Bro, I haven't slept for two days because my buddies and I played Gears of War from beginning to end in one sitting and it was completely worth it". I bought Gears, called up my buddy, and we did the exact same thing on a Saturday and I was hooked from that moment on.
