Guys I'm new at chess. Does one really say "en passant!" loudly when playing over the board? For real?
-
"The queen cha cha slides" good one
-
Glad you’re covering this. Bunch of great games.
-
A great analysis of a fun game. Thanks as always James.

This is perfect! I’m probably too low rated to really be examining the Sicilian but I don’t really care. The first two variations I really started cracking into are the accelerated dragon and the rossolino with that g6 line. I could spend the next ten years looking at the Sicilian and still never fully understand all the theory and subtle nuances in any given position.

Magnus doing Magnesian things ahah always luv Magnus vs Hikaru its like Goku and Vegeta, darth and luke, by far my fave two chess players, great vid again bro!
-
Do love the way you describe these games ! Especially the brain farts and Hikaru's Mrs bringing him a lovely bowl of Ramen noodles ! 😂😂 Superb !
-
Damn, all the pieces were under fire!
-
Do you have the link to the orginal VOD?

The dreaded bathtub!

Hey I found the tactic that Magnus didn't, clearly I must be a GM.

Excellent analysis and commentary Epic Chess is the best

Hahah great content as usual. Great to see subs steadily increasing

Sac'ing a bishop for two king-protecting pawns is always good in my book. I wouldn't even call that a sacrifice. Hell, I'll do it for two random pawns sometimes.
-
nice to watch, thanks

Great review by Epic Chess!

Not claiming to be any strong player, but the knight sac on h3 would have went through my mind same position at chess club night. Magnus play extraordinary, as well as HN. Met HK one time tournament basement church Tacoma, decades ago.

@9:22 after Re8, is that skewering the king or pinning the knight? Or are they both technically correct and can be used interchangeably? Skewer as I understand it means you attack a piece with bishop/rook/queen, then the piece being skewered moves and you eat the piece behind it. But now that I think about it, is it still a skewer if it's not the king being attacked since they don't have to move, thus it's just a normal attack threat or a pin if they cannot afford to lose the piece being X-rayed behind the pinned piece? Asking the real important questions here.. hahaha
