Tears of the Kingdom is definitely bringing a lot of new mechanics to the table...out of all of them this time reversal power has got to be my favorite! Watch as we break down this mechanic with the shown footage and patent, and show how this could be used within the large scope of Tears of the Kingdoms puzzle solving!

What are your guyses thoughts about how Surface to Sky travel will work in Tears of the Kingdom? Let me know, I think there's a lot of amazing theories out there!! :_CrotonTriforce:

I think that rather than “original position” objects will be able to be brought back to the last location where they were motionless. This makes things a lot easier from a development standpoint, and I think is much more likely from a gameplay standpoint as well.
  • Loved this analysis and I really liked the concept of seeing the chunks of rock falling from the sky!
  • @ackack2518
I really hope this game gets as much hype as botw, there was absolutely nothing like it!
  • Let's hope they actually include the trailer song in the game this time
  • @Eohnni
    I loved the Totk prequel.
  • GUYS, HEAR ME OUT How about go to all the DIVINE BEASTS, find some of the CHAMPION'S remaining body parts and bring them back to life using REVERSE TIME ABILITY also turn GANON into baby using this ability and put rope on his neck? You know..killing thanos strategy in avenger endgame ? Yeah that ..

love all the effort you put into these breakdowns

This is a really neat look! It's nice to see the mechanics analyzed like this. I recall it seeming like a lot of people didn't like how the newest trailer didn't show much gameplay, but I think this shows that with some thought, we can determine a good amount. (Even if it's still not fully satisfying for many.) Thanks for uploading!

I didn’t even notice the tail!! This is so cool I’m hyped :D
  • Time reversal is my favorite gimmick in games. Like those timeshift stone in skyward sword

well, I think there is a lot of puzzle potential with the sky rocks. I also think a good chunk of the sky islands are going to work like the shiekah shrines in botw. each island is a little mini-dungeon you need to solve to get a reward. that's possibly what we saw in the trailer where link pulled out the master sword and collected that glowing gold thing. who knows maybe that glowing thing was a tear that could be used to upgrade something kind of like the orbs the monks gave us. I think quite a few of these islands are going to be entered by stumbling upon the rubble. and maybe you might have to use the sky rock on the ground, to solve some of the puzzles on the sky islands above or vice versa you could knock down a chunk of the sky island to fall on the ground to solve a puzzle down there maybe breaking a hole into a cracked part of the ground giving you access to a cave of sorts and then that same rock could be used as your way back up so we wouldn't just use them as a form of transportation but as a tool. maybe there could be a side quest where we turn a group of small sky islands into one big sky island attaching a bunch of sky rocks on the ground to the islands above.

Maybe the chunks are the new collectible like korok seeds. You have to find the missing pieces of islands and send them back up, similar to goddess cubes in Skyward Sword. Perhaps, once they are up they stay there, and the drop/phasing mechanic is how you reuse spots that you already found. When the piece returns to the sky it leave behind that little puddle that seems required to use the upward phasing power.
