The fist time I opened enge was to download Firefox

i think edge is mostly used by students because copilot is really useful for quick answers and split windows (also vertical tabs) are amazing for productivity and then there's stuff like startup boost, the amazing pdf viewer, and sync w/your microsoft account. also microsoft rewards i mean free giftcards for browsing?

8:06 You can make Edge home screen clean from the settings, it looks so cool

My problem with Edge isnt that it doesnt have features but rather the privacy concerns which is also the reason i dislike Chrome and Opera and rather stick with firefox

I'm 63 and I've been using a PC since they came out. I started using Edge about 7 months ago and I really like it. I was using Brave for quite some time and decided to just change and check it out. I like it and I'm using it right now.
  • the copilot pdf reader on the sidebar feature is a godsent for students and researchers, has singlehandedly split my usage between brave and edge
  • @RomanBlbec
I switched to Edge because its the same as Google Chrome becuase its Chromium based and its already in the OS lmao

Vertical tabs are really useful for me cause I always have at least 50 tabs open and it's just impossible to quickly see names of those tabs with horizontal view

Try the vertical tabs with the drawer always open. It removes the opening animation annoyance, and i think it’s more useful (like a file tree, or that horizontal bar in finder)You sacrifice a little horizontal real estate, but when you have many tabs, you don’t have to scroll horizontally to look for the ones you want. And the tabs are always in the same spot, which is wonderful for muscle memory.

For anyone wants to use edge, turn off all features from settings including the annoying sidebar (except security) it will makes it feel like a new browser
  • @F.ginroH
I actually primarly used Edge for about a year now.
  • @akin242002
I've been using it for years (2020). It uses up far less RAM than Google Chrome and offers better perks than Google Chrome. It has been a far better experience on Windows laptops & desktops.
  • The reason it has only 5.31% marketshare is because nobody uses edge on mobile. On desktop, it has 14% marketshare, but Edge on mobile has only 0.3% marketshare according statcounter. This is the consequence for microsoft for giving up os phone market. Microsoft needs to return phone market with windows 12 that could run win32 apps

Vertical tabs are useful on widescreen monitors where you have planty room on side. Also they can be set to stay opened.

In a way, Edge is a victim of its parent company’s hard-sell tactics. From the popups to the difficulties in using a different default browser.
  • @faraz1604
Chrome is number 1 only because it is default and forced in Android. & Edge is horrible in Android.
  • @CrawleyObara
The only reason I still have Edge is because of the 'Read Out' that I can't find on chrome.

The big issue with horizontal tabs is the inability to read any names at all once you have a half decent amount open, unless you hover, wait, read, move, hover, wait...
