I’m tall. Most of the people in my family are tall. Does that mean my son will be tall? Turns out the inheritance of height is a lot more complicated than we thought. Scientists know that nature (genes) and nurture (environment) both play a role, but after more than a century of questions, we’re only just now starting to get some answers

I think height all depends on how tall you are.

i don't need genetics... i already know that being 5'4 as an adult male means suffering
  • @sku7k740
Made this whole video just so he can tell us he’s 6”3
  • I was 5'3 at 15. I read somewhere that most guys only grow 2 inches after their 15th birthday, so I accepted my fate of being 5'5. Turns out I was a late bloomer and am now a little over 6'0 tall and am still growing even though I'm going to be turning 20 this year. Stay strong short guys, you might be one of the rare cases 🙏

Mom 5'6 Dad 5'7 Neighbor 6'5 Me 6'4 Hmm what an odd world

Just spend 7 minutes listening to someone formally saying, “I don’t know.”
  • I’m a Spanish guy who grew up in The Netherlands… you can imagine the neck pain from looking up all the time

Fascinating. Perhaps genetics determines how tall you can grow. Where environment decides if you reach your cap.
  • Nobody: Super tall guys: I’m actually the short one in my family…
  • I'm an adult male and 5'6. However, I'm not unaffected by my short stature. Yes, gaining a few extra inches would be cool but on the contrary I can easily snuggle into tight spaces, shop into teen's sections, have ample flight legroom and so on. Yes, I've been bullied for my height but I just realized that there are somethings that we can't change and some people will always point it out, no matter how obvious it is. So short guys out there, don't be afraid, work hard and attain success so that people no more lookout for your height.

I’m short and here is everything I love about my height: - I feel so comfortable on my bed because of the amazing body size to bed ratio - I don’t hit my head on anything - the end

You forgot the most important factor: if you're dad left you when you were born, your poor and your mum wants you to be in the NBA then your garunteed to be 6"5
  • @Ashley-rp5gt
“hey smart people” bold of you to assume im smart
  • An even more interesting question imo, is how and why has it become an appealing characteristic to be tall, and simultaneously unappealing to be short(?). I think it's definitely worth a video. Anyone agree?
  • I've observed that height is not only about genetics , it's about your environment, diet and your lifestyle

My daughter is 2 and she has always been between close to or 99th percentile for height. I am 5’5 and my husband is 5’11. I am Mexican/Ecuadorian and my husband is white/Hawaiian. I don’t know how she is as tall as she is but it is absolutely incredible
