The fact that we got an actual representation of what Goku would look like if he acted more on his Sun Wukong roots...my heart is full

Even the voice acting was great. My favorite thing was goku's transformation looking more like wukong. Just how the whole thing leans into that influence more. It's a brilliant way to make your take distinct without disrespecting the source material. Just brilliant!

I came back to this after hearing the news of Akira Toriyama's passing. This film shows just how much influence and joy Toriyama's works have brought to people everywhere. Rest in Peace, Legend.

I love that they took Goku's namesake, that of the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, in "Journey to the West" and created a form that represented it. Great way to callback Toriyama's inspiration as well.
