My last fishing session on the Island saw me head around the rocks to try a big sand patch that often produces whiting and flathead, but with no luck this time.
A quick change of tactics resulted in a nice catch of the prolific rock fish at this spot to finish my visit off nicely.

Fun session on some big leatherjacket. If you ate them, you'd have gotten a good feed. I hear they are bloody good, but I don't eat fish, myself, so cannot speak from experience.

Thanks for sharing this series Frank. I think I'll be heading back over to Western River Cove next summer. Have you ever caught Gummies on that sandy area ? Heavy rock fishing was one of my forte's back in the UK

I was always under the impression that Leatherjackets were quite good to eat? Nice spot when the weather was playing nice.
