💑 About Hercules Candy
Hercules Candy has been on Steve’s side of the family since 1910(ish). When he took over in the 70’s, he anticipated after 10 years of hard work, he could move the business out of the basement and into a real storefront. Unfortunately, it took until 2018 for that to happen, but hey at least it happened! Steve and Terry own the shop, Craig (the social media manager) is their son, Cara (wrapper and shipper extraordinaire who is poised to take over the shop one day) is their daughter and Leah (who doesn’t love being on camera and is very elusive) is their oldest daughter. Karen has been working for Hercules Candy since the twins (Craig and Cara) were about 6 months old and everybody else is a new recruit. Don’t forget to subscribe and hit the 🔔 for more videos!

The "artificial" banana flavor is the real flavour of the Gros Michel banana which was the banana of choice until the 1950s. They were slightly bigger than the Cavendish, the modern commercially available banana, with a stronger flavour. This was until a fungal disease called Panama disease struck, which almost wiped out the species because all of the banana plants were spliced identical copies of each other with no genetic variation at all. The same thing is true today for the Cavendish, so another infection will wipe out the modern banana industry.
  • I remember watching Steve doing this in the basement. Everyone had to duck going into the starch room. Fun memories. Thanks guys.
  • @CarynsChaos
Coop has come so far with dropping those creams. I remember when he started!

Those B's on the banana 🍌 creams look good. Keep up the good work.

I like Cooper's synchronization and time management. How he places the candy in the rover chocolate and wastes no paper, or space. 👍👍👍

Have you tried chocolate transfer sheets? You can have the Hercules “H” printed using cocoa butter in gold on transfer sheet. All you have to do is just rub it on the cooled covered cream.
  • Racecar is the same forward and backwards too. I enjoy watching your candy making. From Longview, Texas new to your channel. Hello 👋 Everyone ☺️

When I was pregnant 41 years ago, my system went so haywire that my senses were affected. I used to like bananas, but ever since then, they're disgusting to me. I've always been a very fussy eater, but the older I get, the fussier I get. On that note, peaches and cream cremes would be so light and lovely in the summer heat. Like the combination of fresh peaches and vanilla ice cream. Yum.
  • Watching the cream beater and the enrober are very satisfying Terry and Cooper the early morning crew! The starch room in the basement was so tiny

You showed this on your 26th video in the basement thats awesome ive been watching since the basement Ive always been a fan
  • @tammydodge388
Do you do anything with black cherry? I think they would make a great cream and a ribbon candy with pineapple. Love watching your videos!
  • @chappy675
I think scooping out the cream beater is my favorite! We don’t see that often enough.
  • I'd love to give this kind a try as chocolate and that artificial banana (that's really modeled after how bananas used to taste until that variety got diseased and is now extinct btw) in a cream flavor sounds so yummy. We don't have anything like an old fashioned homemade candy store anywhere around me in rural southwest Virginia. I enjoy your videos, as I've learned so much about how candies are made. I make homemade fudge and a few different types of candies around Christmas every year.
