Paddleboarding (SUP) on the Thames from Richmond to Twickenham Against the Falling Tide (Cloudy Day)

Paddleboarding in Richmond upon Thames from Richmond Lock to Eel Pie Island in Twickenham and back. Regrettably I chose to film and paddle at a time when the tide was falling and the weather was a bit cooler and windy. I intend to film the same route on a sunny day in a pretty much identical video.

This tour shows you the sites when using this part of the river as well as the locations of different water sports clubs and companies on this part of the river.

The route in this video is part of the tidal Thames and is under the control of the Port of London Authority. Private man-powered watercraft do not require a licence to use in parts of the Thames controlled by the Port of London Authority, however, certification regarding paddleboarders change the further down river you go but Between Teddington Lock and Putney Pier, no certifications are required. To go beyond Putney Pier and up to Chelsea Bridge unsupervised (but in a minimum group of 3), a TSK1 (Thames Skills & Knowledge) certification must be completed and certain equipment carried. My SUP is an Aqua Marina Magma 10'10 (330 cm) 2019 model.
