Genshin’s late-game experience has always been wildly different to the early-game.

A little over a year ago, I created a second Genshin account to help refresh my memory, expecting to play through the first couple of regions and then let it go. Instead, I’ve kept it going, albeit at a very casual pace, and it’s become an experiment to see the game through the eyes of a fairly casual free-to-play player.

It’s been pretty eye-opening. There’s so much that is easy to forget, and there were some surprises that I hadn’t even noticed the first time.

The stamina and energy things combined make combat SO different when you're early on, and so many people just completely forget that once they're past the midgame. Must be incredibly frustrating for newer people to constantly get advice which they literally cannot follow...

My wife and I are F2P since week 1, I can vouch for all of this info. She and I often lament how unrealistic most videos are, even the ones that claim to be F2P friendly. The gatcha gods are definitely going to define your account a lot. I didn't get an R5 Sac sword for almost 2 years. As a result, the craftable weapons become much more relevant, as they are one of the only ways to guarantee refinements. Blackcliff weapons from Paimon shop likewise are much more worthwhile.

I loved the early game because it wasn’t a cakewalk. I didn’t have tons of built characters and I barely had any characters to choose from at all. I had to make do with what I had. Utilizing elemental reactions for most of my damage. It was fun to walk into a new area and not know if I could survive there. It was fun finding my new gear and materials naturally through the open world and being able to use them right away with a notable increase in power. Coming back to something that was too difficult before with newfound strength is such an exhilarating experience that I don’t get anymore now that I’m in the endgame and everything is super easy. I miss the early game.

Respekt for putting so much work into a secondary account for such a long time. I tried this twice and always gave up after a week or so. I would love to replay my favourite story bits but many things in Genshin feel pretty tedious on a second go… doesn’t help that many of the cool stories I remember were part of limited events and can never be played again. It’s a real loss to have some of the best moments in this game lost to time. Anyways, looking forward to hear more of your experiences with this account.

As someone who just started an alt F2P account so I could play co-op with friends on other servers, I'm experiencing a ton of this. I'd love to see more about the mid and end-game! I currently have to restrain from building new folks and its sooooo hard. It feels validating to see that the lack of leveling resources on F2P is a problem, since that's what I've been struggling with lately. Oh the leyline farming.

Having a second acc to revisite old content with a matured look and have a more carefree/casual approach was as fun as relaxing to me as well. Im down for more content about your adventure :)

Yes please. Could you make more videos on this topic. It would be great to see your perspective on this. You’re right about the limited information on this. That and how did Dehya become your missing piece? Sounds like something I want to copy

I too made an alt account a few months ago on a whim and played it till AR30 which I reached in a week. Then I abandoned it because I just don't have time to play a new account and do what I want to do on my main account at the same time. But it indeed was interesting experience, I can totally confirm the point about stamina and that starting the game knowing what to do is a world of difference.
  • Thank you for the alternative for the main stats when building Xingqiu, Xiangling, etc. Next time I'm able to return to the Emblem domain, I'll see what I can do. Thou that's a long time from now. 😂 Anyway, the reason I subscribed to your channel was because you give a different perspective from the average with your videos. Giving alternatives outside "the norm" or the meta, sometimes even defying them (*cough* Aloy *cough*), which are very valuable for people who don't or can't follow those. For this, I think you should continue this series as I think It's in line with your channel in general. ^^ Thank you for your work and I hope to see more!
  • I was doing a similar experiment not long ago, and I agree with pretty much everything you said. It's easy to take that stamina bar for granted. And having the early gacha dictate what characters you build is so true hahaha. And as a bonus, I found out that a lot of early game characters are criminally underrated. For example Lisa. She carried me through the entirety of the early game experience with one very simple build. Full EM. Just level her as high as you can and give her magic guide with all the EM you can get. The transformative reactions are really powerful early on when it's mostly mob enemies. Mainly electro charged and overloaded.
  • 9:39 Oof I definitely ignored this advice when playing through my account. I literally tried to level all of my characters to level 50 and beyond which was definitely a pain when I ascended my World Level and had no resources to spend on my characters. I’m still in the early game and now I’m only trying to build 4 characters. On one hand it is pretty annoying, but on the other I liked having the option to use a variety of characters, even if a lot of them sucked.
  • Yes please, great video to explain the massive difference of experience that F2P will feel during early game in Genshin. I own AR60 account with sufficient enough character to comfortably 36* abyss now (thank you Furina) While I have contemplated to start new account, I still haven’t got time yet. However, one of my friend just recently start to play Genshin ever since past month and it was a totally fun experience to help them. They have watch some guide and not strictly F2P (Welkin only) so they already have some grasp in the mechanics of Genshin. It is still so much fun though to help them navigate and giving advices like what build to use, how to collect oculus efficiently with interactive map and such. Also since they just recently reach AR45, I have started helping them with artifact farming as well. (Emblem domain again here I come)
  • @NeraThun
Always though I'll do the same at some point but keep pushing it because I already have two accounts =S Thanks for sharing your experiences and I'm all for more content on that adventure ^^

Great video! I started an alt acct 3 months ago to pull characters I don't need but want to try I'm AR 55 so its easy to level faster than you have properly built teams lol BIGGEST ISSUE for me, is the catch-22 of 4 stars: by the time they're good (cons&gear), you can pull 2 teams of better 5*s SOME of them can be almost as good as 5*s but only with C4-6, R5 4 weapons and awesome artifacts - none of which you will have for all of them within the first year. *By the time you can truly utilize those 4*'s you can outclass them with 5*s and save wasting resources - after a year you'll have plenty of 5*'s to use, making most 4*'s pointless *Most 5*'s end up being more ftp/new player friendly because their higher multipliers can make up for lack of ideal artifacts (unless it's a needy hypercarry) So other than Bennet, Xingqiu, Xiangling, Fischl, Chevreusse (and a few other situational 4*s) - all the low con 4*'s you built will be replaced with better 5*s so it's not worth wasting resources on unless you want the challenge of heavily investing into 4*s just for the fun of it However, I will say that it's fun to have to make do with what you have early game (Anemo traveller is actually pretty good too) and my alt account is specifically to build any characters not worth building on my main so I'm actually enjoying building random characters like Qiqi
  • @ramblinrocky
stamina is SUCH a game changer!!! The way you're rudely awakened attempting things on a new alt account, when first starting it after AR 50+ on your main lol. I would absolutely love to see more in this series if you've got time 💜 I think it'd be very helpful for all game stages, but for those who've survived the grind, refreshing to hear your perspective as always.
  • @kirkkek
i still havent got 36* abyss on my 3,5 year old MAIN account haha. aint got the builds good enough or the patience to keep trying honestly. dedication, props to you.
  • @xanaviii
The other major thing for new players really is just mechanics: especially character switching. Can you imagine not only having awful ER on Xianling, but also staying on-field with her? Without any thought of switching or making a reaction? When i was teaching a friend who was a novice gamer how to play, the added layer of remembering to switch made using reactions pretty unviable for her. Guides almost always assume a certain base skill level, and Genshin is a game that needs practice, despite being a casual game.
  • @niicespiice
i've been playing since early 2021, but because it's been so on-and-off, i still can't pass FLOOR 9 of the abyss!!!! and i only have 3 5*s
