    The safest base is when you place a 6 by 6 and place 4 double doors on each side and in the middle a ladder that goes up, make a distance between ground and the 1st floor around 4 5 blocks and then just expand outwards so stuff cannot climb up. Plus since you have 4 double doors on each side it doesn't matter where you are coming from you can get in without issues. Also a little recommendation is to make door chambers, its when you have 2 doors and a little 2 block gap between them in a tunnel, so you can lock shit in there.
