If a person bursts into your house, you then grab a gun to defend yourself/home, then that intruder shoots & kills you, they don't then get to claim "self defense"!!! HE had the right to self defense, NOT the intruder... be it a cop, a rapist, a drunk neighbor, etc , etc!!!! What type of bizarre alternate reality are we living in here??!

Spoiler alert ‼️ Cops won’t be prosecuted and will not admit to any wrong doing, but will pay the lawsuit out of the taxpayer’s pocket.

Wow! This sounds eerily like the female cop that went into the wrong apartment in Dallas and killed a man a couple years back.

A serviceman killed by his own law enforcement. This is just butt backwards.
  • You don't get to claim self defense when you kicked in the wrong door. This is why people don't believe in police anymore.

What a stupid excuse! Every one of them should be charged for murder

I'm pro Florida policing more than a majority. You guys f'd up. Stop talking about how it was self-defense. You can end this easily by admitting fault and paying out a substantial settlement for what this Airmans life could've been. I get why the officer shot as he was under the idea they were entering someone else's apartment but that doesn't give the department a hall pass. Sick of hearing excuses. Just admit you f'd up and this was a horrible accident. I'd as along with many others would respect that much more.

Isn't this the same police department where the cop thought an "acorn" was gunfire???

The one thing that sherrifs department won't be able to do as law enforcement agencies routinely have done with other black men they've killed, is use this young man's past against him to justify his death. He was an Airman in the United States Air Force who worked in Special Ops. I don't trust FL law enforcement to do an objective, unbiased investigation into this. By him being a member of the US Air Force, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) which is the primary investigative law enforcement unit for the Air Force, and comprised of Federal agents will have a hand in the investigation of this killing. Hopefully, they will get answers, and justice for this young man and his family.
