i remember when this started to play at the credits around season 4 and like shit felt so real.... i got so many chills and i cannot explain my excitement when i was a kid whenever a new episode came out and the credits section updated i was so so invested what a beautiful time,, i gotta rewatch the series again someday the mark this show left on me is really something

Does this song overall give anyone extreme nostalgia or is it just me?

I just can’t get over rebeccas vocal improvement over the years!!! Just comparing the two versions is so cool :) obviously I love both versions but there’s something very warming about witnessing growth over time ??

To me, I see that this is Pink singing to Steven, talking about how amazing he is at doing what he does and talking about how he loves everything so much and she could learn from him. Thank you Rebecca Sugar for giving us this amazing song and amazing cartoon as well

these little snips of the song at the end of every episode sometimes freaked me out and they still do also i love how it makes you know every little bit of the song by playing them over and over again but never altogether obviously not intentional but it does that for me

I find it surprising how even before the repost, no one had any theories about the choruses in certain parts, knowing how overanalytic we are as a fandom. So now I'm here to put my two cents because I got bored, don't take it seriously. The song is from Pink Diamond's POV, as the song was previously sung by Rose, who is looking back on her life and her decisions, knowing that she's bad. She of course sings it to Steven just like Rose did previously. (or in another case, she sings it to Greg, still thinking humans are below her since her thinking has not evolved yet, remember we're seeing this backwards) Anyway the chorus are the Crystal Gems since they all have insecurities that have been showcased in the past, and they overcame those obstacles in their perception of themselves. So instead of it being the 4 original Crystal Gems, it's the spirit/soul of the current Crystal Gems (didn't think much of a description yet, just.. a physical manifestation of them in their current reformation and that's it lol) plus Pink. All their "current" selves (from a time-line showcase perspective). Another option could be the Pearls, which would make sense because you know, Diamond. But I like the Crystal Gems idea better, I find it more harmonious.

That people can write stuff in 7/8 that sounds this natural and good blows my mind

I remember when I binge-watched Steven Universe from the beginning to the end this playing really felt like a COMPLETE shift in the series and I cried so hard because that "i just want my dad" scene was so so heartbreaking

This version gives me chills everytime... amazing.

Steven universe basically changed my entire worldview, personality and pretty much everything. I have no regrets.
