I want to see the reverse of this episode. Ben and the food team get a list of ingredients from the 3 Normals and have 30 minutes to have a plan and design the 3 meals for 2. Then the Normals show their plans for the food.

Why do I always want to reach into the screen and hug Mike in these challenges? He always gets the short end of the stick during the challenge and takes the judgement at the end the most to heart 😢

A fun, and torturous, twist on this would be to give them the grocery bag and have them each create a dish one at a time. For example, Mike would get the full bag and make a dish, then Barry would go second and only have what Mike didn't use in order to make his dish...and then poor Jamie would have to make a dish with the remnants left by the other two. None of them would know what the others made until the final reveal and judgement. :D
  • You know it's a good episode when you hear the three panic chatting before the video even begins 😂

I think the bigger difference here, is that Ben and the food team were able to buy the ingredients and then make a plan based on that, whereas the boys opened the bag, and had to on the spot come up with 3 entire dishes with a significant amount of cross-over ingredients. Would definitely be interesting to see the food team and Ben be put on the spot and have 3 of them share the kitchen and work in the same conditions as the boys with no time to plan
  • Seeing these challenges I notice Mike tries to be the one who is like okay guys let's hold hands and make good strides towards the same goal. Barry skips in one direction trying to be fancy and Jamie dashes in the other direction because he likes to charge head on with his goal.

The moment Ben got taken aback by Jamie’s dish was probably the best reaction I’ve seen in a hot minute
  • Mike would be the perfect guest at any dinner. He loves food and simply lights up when something turns out great. No matter how homey or grand a meal is. As for these recipes, I am no fan of parsnips or sprouts, but I am definitely going to try these recipes! Thank you guys!
  • I feel like Mike was trying to harvest to think of everything in this challenge but was getting ignored. Now he knows what it feels like to be a mom. Bless his heart!

“It’s almost like you started cooking without a plan.” That can be said for my kitchen even when I’ve had a plan. I just don’t shy away from kitchen carnage. Probably why I like watching Sortedfood videos. 😂

Idea for a Ben challenge…have Jamie and Barry’s kids pick a bag of groceries and let them taste at the end but tell Ben it was the normals until the end
  • @SeraphinaPZ
Love how Barry is so excited for sprouts, then the blue cheese comes out.
  • @turr8894
Love how Jamie just went and made a savory mille feuille I'm cackling!!!

Bring back the bloopers at the end of each episode please! They are very VERY sorely missed. Loved the episode and ideas boys! Edit: Also, I love seeing Ben cooking more in the kitchen! I missed this, you guys actually cooking and showing us recipes and tricks. Not just the games and competitions. I hate how that's what the Food Network turned into, from ACTUAL cooking shows all day every day, to what we have now, which is all competition shows. I hope to see more of you guys just cooking, instead of just competing (not that I don't love all of your other content from PIO to the Gadget Reviews and the (hoping for more) Pretentious Ingredients!).
  • LOL I feel for the Normals. Unlike the Foodteam, they had zero time to plan what they would do with completely unknown ingredients and theme. Maybe next time you should reverse the order and have the Normals make the bag up. Also. I feel for Mike. He has a lot of leadership potential if only Baz and Spaff would bloody well listen.
  • @Marc_prime
I get the impression that the Normals have been following Food Team recipes recently, but this was a return to a more classic format where the Normals relied on their skill alone. In that sense, the Food Team has both positives and negatives, but I do see it as a sign of growth for the channel.
  • @RoseArkana
Jamie's "Stop it" at 1:50 was perfectly timed with my immature laugh, and that intro!
  • @celticecho
I loved seeing the “normals” do their challenge and then following it up with what the “pros” would do with the same ingredients! Really great video guys!!!
  • This was great! I'd maybe like to see the normals get some more planning time, as they seemed to get somewhere (Jamie and Barry's dishes) and then give up on the rest and give it to Mike, so I think maybe 5 minutes of planning time might get a more coherent idea?
