It’s an amount of money that’s truly mind-boggling. The largely unregulated world of wellness is estimated to be worth $7 trillion. Remarkably, it’s three times more than the traditional pharmaceutical industry. And Australia is leading the charge in the wellness boom. Living among us are an increasing number of new-age gurus who believe, for an often very healthy price, they can fix our many real and imagined ailments. They claim things like coffee enemas, carnivore diets, intravenous drips, even vagina-scented candles will provide much needed zest for users.

On 60 MINUTES, Tom Steinfort realigns his chakras and sets forth on an eye-opening journey to discover if the wellness craze is giving us a new lease on life or is just an easy way to empty our wallets.

  • Intermittent fasting and bone broth are not extreme. Opioids from big pharma and their side effects are extreme!
  • "Just eat food and drink water." That's what the Carnivore diet is. No treatments, supplements, or expensive products, just eat the food we are designed to eat, meat, and enjoy your life.
  • @codinginflow
I would call the standard American diet an "extreme diet" considering how many people die from it every day
  • Since posting this story, 60 Minutes Australia has changed the title of this video 3 times. From “Carnivore diet and other wellness myths busted” to “Is your diet making you sick” and as of this post, “Extreme diets and health trends people are swearing by”. I looked through about 50 top comments on this story, all of which from what I could tell, we’re talking about the carnivore diet in a positive light. Calling it a “myth” was a misstep obviously. Also the first title appeared to focus mainly on the carnivore diet. Carnivore doesn’t get talked about until the 12 minute mark and is covered for less than 5 minutes in a 28 minute story. I believe every lifestyle, even the ones I believe in, are deserving of scrutiny. However I believe they did a poor job of covering this lifestyle that was lumped in with vagina scented candles, IV drips and social media moguls who over price supplements. I understand it’s hard to cover carnivore in less than 5 minutes but the framing of the story wasn’t done well. You don’t need to buy anything extra to be carnivore other than changing your foods purchases. If anyone tells you so that is misleading.

The carnivore diet works. I've been doing it for 12 months. No longer have gum disease or arthritis and a whole host of other improvements.
  • @pepelives3175
Do the opposite of what any “news” channel says.
  • @marnicdreams
My husband and I have been carnivore for 5 months and feel better than ever. We’ve both lost weight in the process and health issues have cleared up including asthma, allergies, aches and pains. We also have more clarity of mind, enthusiasm and joy for life and recover quickly after intense exercise. We are carnivore for life 👍

Just here to give Dr. Anthony Chaffee some love. The carnivore diet has helped me so much from my skin health (no more eczema) to my gut health (no more chronic constipation). I love seeing all the comments on here.
  • @Homesteadhow
Ive been carnivore for 83 days. Stopped snoring, arthritis gone, down 40lbs, depression, anxiety all gone. I have energy and motivation. Gee its funny reading these comments everyone is saying similiar!! right but we are the crazy ones. Meanwhile the entire world is eating the other way and obesity, heart disease, diabetes are all skyrocketing... carnivore for life!

I went carnivore 4 months ago. It wasn’t hard, I wasn’t starving and staring at the scale anymore. I no longer had to feel guilty for not liking vegetables. The carbs and sugar cravings passed and my weight is steadily going down and many of my health issues are gone. Even my dentist was impressed. I’ve never felt and looked this good and my labs are great. My only regret is that I didn’t find this lifestyle earlier. I’ll be 60 this year and feel wonderful.

I’ve been ketovore for 8 months and full carnivore for 4 months. Not only have I lost 30kg, but my depression and anxiety completely went away within 2 weeks, I’m off meds, my BP went from 130/90 to 105/65, resting heart rate was 85-90, now 55-60bpm. I have dropped a massive amount of visceral fat, my perimenapausal symptoms went away (no more hot flashes!) no more PMT, regular periods, no bloating, no cravings, no counting calories or macros. The list goes on and on. I was a skeptic to start with, but did my research and committed to a solid 10 weeks, but felt so amazing I’ve stuck to it and never looking back. I’m 40 and now feel like I’m 25 again. Carnivore/ ketovore is the real deal. Do your research before knocking it. Thank you Dr Chaffee for all you are doing for our health ❤
  • I started carnivore after topping off at 308 pounds. I slept all the time, high blood pressure, anxiety, depression were out of control. Zero energy. Fatty liver. Plus more that O can not even thonk of at the moment. I was the perfect picture of poor health!!! So far I have lost 80 pounds diabetes is GONE Blood pressure now under control and no longer taking meds My depression and severe anxiety GONE Urge incontinence GONE Dry eye GONE Off all medications except my thyroid meds Normal sleep patterns HUGE increase in energy My thinning hair is growing back This is no fad diet. This is how I am making my 62 year old body healthy again and FEELING AMAZING
  • Who was the only person not trying to sell something. Didn’t denigrate anybody else to get his point across and an obviously very healthy individual.
  • @GrunonFeliz
ok, for 13 years, I watched my husband go from doctor to doctor to medication to remedy and nothing helped. He had so many different issues and could barely walk. He questioned why he was staying alive almost every day. About 6 months ago, he went on the carnivore diet and in that period of time has lost 80 lbs, no longer has sleep apnea, sleeps well at night, has energy, an even-keeled emotional life and is finally himself. I don't know if plants want to kill you or not, but I can definitely say that at least for him, carnivore diet is not a fad or trend, it literally saved his life.

Dr. Anthony Chaffee is amongst very few doctors who aren't afraid to speak the truth. Keep up the great work. Sandra. Perth, Western Australia.🇦🇺 ❤
  • I reversed type 2 diabetes, reversed NAFLD, lowered my BP, lost 245 pounds since last April. Eating carnivore. Not having pills and surgeries, or eating carbohydrates and sugar filled garbage. The best thing by far is that the depression and anxiety is gone! Eat the proper human diet!
  • @cassieoz1702
I dont recall Dr Chaffee trying to sell anything. He should not be tarred with the same brush as Gwyneth Paltrow or expensive telemedicine quacks. I have a difficulty with Dr Idz because, once you make your name as an iconoclast, your profile depends on being oppositional and shouting at the camera. It's worth noting that 'lifestyle medicine' is heavily based in Adventist influenced plant based eating. I note your interviewer didn't question veganism as an 'extreme diets'
  • @spendous
I reversed my diabeties and fatty liver with the carnivore diet in six months. My A1C went from 10.1 to 5.2 with out any medication or insulin. I simply cut out carbs and ate fatty cuts of beef with 2 cage free eggs - drank water - didn't excercise (I have an office job)
  • @annaak7849
The carnivore diet healed my crippling anxiety in 2 weeks. Also severe bloating gone completely and my skin is glowing! Barely use makeup anymore. It’s no longer a diet to me but a lifestyle.
  • I am a carnivore and I am so glad to have my health back😊 I started in 2018 and reversed diabetes2, chronic sinusitis I had for 20 years, I have no more pre menopause issues (I am49 and my cycle is still there), I have no more depressions, my skin is free from acne, my teeth are perfect, no more seasonal allergies, better sleep, muscle grows naturaly, no more joint pain, ......, I feel great and want to age just that way and fully enjoy my life. When I was on a sad diet and later on vegetarian, I got so sick! It was terrible. I had diabetes 2, lost my father with this and refuse to end like he did! No! I won't swallow 20 pills a day, live a miserable life and be blamed it's my own fault by doctors who tell a diabetic to have sugar in masses and just adjust with the right amount of insuline... No! I reversed it and I am so glad I made it and will stay a carnivore. I am not going back to a miserable life.
