I lived in mainland China for a few years. Loved many things but slowly started hating even more things. Moved back home to Holland and took a two week trip to Taiwan in 2019 just before Covid hit. Absolutely loved it! Contemplating every single day if I should just leave it all behind here and move to Taiwan.

Taiwan is my favourite place to visit. I can’t wait to get back there next week!

I moved from Changsha back home to Calgary during the madness. Canada is boring, I yearn for overseas life every day. Taiwan will be worth moving to and starting new.

I think another big reason is probably just that you’ve built a life and friendships in Taiwan and that is very hard to leave. Your friends in Canada no longer share the same life experiences as you anymore. I live in San Francisco but am from Vancouver, and even I feel that way, even though they’re not so far apart. Keep exploring the world!
  • 我非常喜歡去加拿大旅遊,遺憾的是,兩週後,我就想念台灣了,就如你所說的,台灣真的很方便

can't believe it's been five years already. I feel like it's still recent that you'd just moved there. I've been watching your videos since China. I moved to Vietnam this year and am just about to do the Ha Giang bike tour. really enjoying my new life as well!

I have an ARC card because I am married to a Taiwanese. We spend about half of every year in Taiwan and half in Canada and for me the pace of life in Taiwan just seems more relaxed. Yes the working culture can be intense at times and not always very efficient and yes the education system is debilitating and short-sighted but, otherwise, there is this general casual attitude here where people do what’s needed to get things done but without the anal-retentive stress that I feel when I am back in Canada. Make-shift food stalls, pipes running every which way and wires affixed to nondescript mold-encrusted concrete buildings do make Taiwan an eyesore at first glance but when you get beneath the total lack of interest in the aesthetic, there is this laid-back charm and can-do attitude that supersedes everything and makes Taiwan such a comfortable place in which to live. When you couple this with the Island’s incredible natural beauty, living here is a no-brainer.
  • Time flies! What's funny is I mainly started watching your videos because I was watching Winston and Cmilk--and I only started those videos because it was late 2017 and I was thinking about teaching in China and had two job offers. But after all those videos, I decided it wasn't the best path for me to pursue. And then you left China, and in time, both the other two did as well. Things certainly have changed, so it was a good decision for me. But teaching in Taiwan might have been a fun thing to do as well. Cheers!

I’ve never seen anyone make a fire like this😂!

I live vicariously through you and all the YouTubers in Taiwan.
  • I have been living in Taiwan for over 8 years now. I still love the place. I also went around the island on my scooter last year in June. I've started to upload videos about it.
  • It's been 25 years since I lived there... and I STILL miss it.

  • @giannishen
    窮酸烤肉趴,其實一點也不窮酸, 有奇異果先生的陪伴其實很珍貴; 如果把加拿大與臺灣混和會很棒!👍😃👌

Props on your attempt at a Taiwanese Moon Festival sidewalk barbecue! Funny how time flies, right? I'm going on 15 years in Taiwan and I agree with many of your points about why I'm here. I'm American, and it's Taiwan's safety, cost of living, national health insurance, helpful people, and ease of travel that are the big reasons I stay and plan to retire here. 加油!

It is a rare blessing to find a place you truly love, and wish to live there for a long time!

Love Taiwan. Started easy then went through the ringer starting my own biz, now it's coming back to a pretty awesome life again. Keep it up, love the vids
