Imagine going to prison for life just for bringing enough of your prescription meds along to last your stay because they're considered contraband. North Korea is a place that I'll visit from the safety of my living room while watching someone else's courageous documentary.

I was in North Korea before they got a nuke. My father was working for a foreign nation and was there in a diplomatic position. I remember having some local kids over for a visit and I turned on MTV which we had via satellite. The kids screamed and pushed the tv off the stand as they ran out of our home. I asked my dad about it and he said at bare minimum they’d pay a fine for being caught viewing MTV. I asked him how much and he said, “About tree fiddy.”
