Don't really see what difference it makes TBH. Playing multiplayer has ingrained that kind of behaviour in to me. Best to reload when you have an opportunity to do so safely rather than risk running out of ammo while you're in a firefight.

You know that unused rounds in a clip aren't "used up" when you reload, right? Also I don't see what the disadvantage is to slowing down and making sure you're prepared for a fight before you go diving in. Also just realised that I'm arguing with someone on the Internet about when to reload my gun in a video game. I think I'm done here.
