I am someone that loves cleaning and detailing my vehicle. I have to confess I was intimidated to polish. I watched quite a few videos. Finally bit the bullet. Did I do a perfect job? Doubt it. Was I happy with the outcome? Yes! The metallic jumped out! Love your videos, thanks for the encouragement to newbies and weekend warriors. Kim

Something I have not seen lately is testing the paint. Checking the thickness and a test spot is important and maybe some detailers forget this initial step.
  • I’m 67 and I changed my polishing techniques because of the DIY methods….damp towel with rinseless/dry towel to buff. I now also finish with the rotary and I no longer wipe off the polish between the DA and Rotary…genius!

Choose DIY Detail products or not (I personally really like them), but Yvan is a voice of reason we all need to hear. I'm a classic over-thinker, and while it has helped in some aspects of my life and career, it definitely can add stress to what should be a stress relief, like detailing. I remember seeing the liiightest swirls appear on my family SUV hood (side panels were clear) after a spring clean when the sun hit it a certain way and immediately thought.. "omg what was that... Was it me... Ugggggghh". Look at the big picture... It just got through a Canadian winter (snow brushes and salt), a family trip to Quebec, it's parked outside, driven every day, etc. I cannot maintain perfect paint on this vehicle, and I have come to be at peace with this. I will do what I can with what's in my power to keep the paint looking excellent, but I have accepted the reality of a daily driven vehicle. And with the power of doing my first polish with the DIY system on my car, I have no fear of giving the SUV a polish to spruce it up next spring. For this mental peace, Yvan, if you're reading this, cheers bud and merci.

I guess we tend to overthink stuff 1) because we entered detailing while looking for a better and more gentle wash than the one offered at the gas station and 2) because we don't understand a certain topic very well. Your channel for me is the best channel for a total beginner and you teach so much stuff that 1) even pros don't know and 2) all this information is food for thought and you can now understand things better, for example how a coating works and why it would fail after X amount of time. So a big thank you for all the knowledge shared and know that you help those who want to learn even more as well!

Great video Yvan and Nick! Always looking forward to the next episode.
  • Definitely agree on the time wasted going to an automated car wash. Every Saturday I pass by one going to my gym and see the line stretching into the street. I know people are waiting over an hour for a subpar cleaning. I’ve offered a rinseless washing tutorial to customers multiple times to show them that in 30 minutes they can clean and protect their vehicles and they have turned me down every time in favor of continued use of scratch factories. You can lead a horse to water………..

We’ve seen the mitt on a stick and scrub ninja from Autofiber become a hit within the industry. It’s time you give the people what they really need and release the sponge on a stick and sponge scrubbie.

Putting the fear aside I polished my daughter’s 24 year old BMW and it turned out great. Doing the glass did so well I used the water spot remover and then polished the glass in my shower and then coated it. Wow. Just looking for things to polish and coat lol.

Impressed with my first bottle of incredible suds , works well. Smells great. Simple to the point. Will buy more
  • A lot of ceramic coatings did say to have perfect paint so thats what stuck in my head for 20 years! Thanks to you Yvan and Nick . This changed my mind of perfect paint how your destroying more of the paint rather than repairing it to enhance it and make it glossy and scratch free. !! You guys are great!! Keep up the great work. You guy’s will help do many people! Makes so much more sense now thanks to you guys!
