During the unfortunate events of the COVID-19, I wanted to create a way for musicians and video game music fans to come together virtually to work together on a piece of music we could all be proud of, and celebrate our love for the Great Video Game Songbook together!

"The 8-Bit Big Band" is a 30-65 member Jazz/pops orchestra that formed to celebrate and realize some of the best themes from video game music from all consoles and eras arranged in a large ensemble Jazz/Pop/Rock setting!
Blending together timeless musical themes from Nintendo, Sega, Playstation, and more then re-arranging them in genres and styles of all musical inspirations, The 8-Bit Big Band has members from all around the world, but most reside primarily in New York City, and are some of the most highly sought after musicians and performers.

My son is in the upper left corner playing the flute at the 30 second mark and again at around the 3:30 mark in the lower lefthand corner. He was very excited to be a part of this.

Really put emphasis on the "Big" in The 8-Bit Big Band. This is amazing! I don’t even know how everyone managed to coordinate with one another and just sync up so well with so many people. But all I really care is that this exists and I love it!

To say this is an incredible arrangement would be an understatement. I particularly love how much it takes from the character select version of Lifelight (and others in the game) rather than only the song!!

Now this is certainly a performance to be proud of. Even with this pandemic bringing so much down on everyone, instead of rushing out an animation, you instead work out a collaboration to truly set the tone of not only the song, but the entire series. Well done, to everyone in the video! Also, would the part at around 1 minute happen to be a reference to Rainbow Road? I happened to get that vibe from the strings there if not and it turned out beautifully to keep the pace of the song moving.

Everyone's talking about the musicians, who did a great job, but no one is talking about the editor. This had to be a nightmare to put together, to time and balance everything correctly, but it was done masterfully.
