Based upon the Old Testament Book of Esther, this dramatic Biblical film strikes squarely at religious misunderstanding and prejudice. Its great message is that God never fails those who love and serve Him. The story's special meaning for today is stressed by opening and closing scenes in a modern Jewish home. It is the Feast of Purim when the Book of Esther is opened and read to recall the Jews' rescue from death at Shushan. As grandfather reads from the Scripture, the whole drama comes to life on the screen. Produced by the Rev. James K. Friedrich for Cathedral Films.

More than the social aspects mentioned Ruth is a story about a woman who listened to God and obeyed him when others wouldn't. I think that's the important lesson from the Biblical story.
