    # Reason or intention - I stopped by the grocery store for some coffee " followed by a noun " - I stopped by the grocery store to buy some coffee " followed by verb infinitive " - in a few months I am traveling to California for a conference - In a few months I am traveling to California to speak at a conference # used to indicate the recipient - yesterday I bought a birthday card for my sister - yesterday I bought a birthday card to send to my sister (to = movement) • give, sell, send, mail ... # important to me ( to = if personal values attached to it . Have emotional value) # important for me ( for = it has benefit )

  • Thank you for this precious lesson, Annemarie. It was so important for me as I'm often in a doubt whether to use "to" or "for". Now that all is clear, I guess have to practise more and on a daily base to get more confident and avoid mistakes.
