A quote from Dr. Lustig that I never forgot …… “Any food that is linked to a television commercial should not be consumed.” Brilliantly said, and a great boundary to put in place.
  • Thank you for this conversation. As a pre med student , Harvard, I met with the department head of Nutrition at the School of Medicine, telling him that it was a conflict of interest that he was the head of the department, yet was also on the sugar board. I was promptly asked to leave his office. That eye opening meeting resulted in my life-long dedication to educating others of how to achieve vitality and health radiance through diet and lifestyle. The next year I started a health teaching museum with other talented professionals who believed that young children were the target audience for health information. I am pleased to see that I have lived long enough to see an entire generation of health professionals who are brave and audacious enough to whistle blow in response to food crimes against humanity. Well done, gentlemen!

I’m on day 114 no sugar no carbs. Now no joint pain. I almost can’t believe how I’m feeling now.
  • "There is no weight gain without insulin". What a tremendously simple statement!
  • Stephen I discovered this Doctor 3 yrs ago after my GP told me I was pre diabetic. 3 yrs on my blood levels are completely normal and everyone tells me how good I look recently. This man should be on every TV in the world but the food industry is trying to shut him up. Follow his work and you will change your life like he has changed mine. Stuart J 59 year old male uk
  • I am a 48 year old with Cerebral Palsy. I have been ambulatory since age 4. When I consume even the tiniest amount of sugar (less than a teaspoon), I experience paralysis. I can't move my arms or legs and my speech, which is otherwise completely normal becomes very impaired. We make all of our food from scratch now and I don't have a problem.
  • Home cooked food is the best. Nothing tastes better than a meal you put together yourself. As a mother and wife watching my family eat a home cooked meal brings me so much joy.

Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?

"The more pleasure you seek, the more unhappy you get". This is a testament to the fact that we live in a societal malaise.

I had severe hives for 30-40 years on my arms. I went to many many doctors with no improvement. If I could use enough ice to prevent myself from scratching myself bloody during the day, I would do it at night. Finally, a chiropractor said that her mother had scars on her arms like mine, and that she had stopped eating sugar for a week and a half and the hives had gone away. Done! After decades and decades of going to doctors, and thousands of dollars, gone.

I am in absolute SHOCK only 30 minutes in. This should be taught to every single individual on this planet!

Every parent should watch this video. I love Dr Lustig. I am 70. I have been addicted to sugar my entire life. I am Type 2 diabetic, have HTN, had colon cancer 9 years ago, hyperccholesterol, hyper thyroid and psoriatic arthritis.I will go weeks eating right, then one slip up and go back into the old habits. Immediately, I feel inflammation in hands and joints. Are there treatment centers for sugar addicts. I love how I feel when I am eating right but hate when I lose control.

Dear Steven, your interviews have made a bigger impact on my health than all the doctors I've met in my 56-year life. Thanks a million.
  • @user-yc3jg7gg9x
I have a PhD in Chemistry... I found the person interviewed extremely knowledgeable and the interview questions extremely relevant. Fantastic!!
  • @MzAlexZ
As a newly qualified doctor, what’s interesting about medical school is we get taught the several underling mechanisms Dr Lustig is talking about (e.g. Gluconeogenesis, glycogenolysis, the role of insulin in growth etc) but its never pieced together in such a way that’s makes it now seem completely obvious to me how weight gain occurs. One day I hope his work and research wins him a Nobel prize
  • @sharfalor4244
Dr Lustig was one of the first I came across when I needed to fix my weight. I started listening to him whilst walking. It inspired me to stay away from sugar. I lost 70lb in 5 months.
  • @max05275
Dr. Lustig is my hero. His book Metabolical saved my life. None of the doctors told me that it was the food that I was eating. I went from 317 to 180 when I stopped eating sugar and ultra-processed foods.

“Pleasure is dopamine, happiness is serotonin. Dopamine is an excitable neurotransmitter, which wants you to be tickled not bludgeoned. When it’s over stimulated neurons begin to die, such as in addiction, which anything triggers in the brain that is used in excess triggering of dopamine. But Serotonin cannot be overproduced and killed off….” This! This right here!!! Explains so much!!

My mom and my dad were really big on eating fruits, vegetables, home cooked meals and limiting our juice and pop intake. We drank a lot of water in my childhood and I’m so grateful to my parents for doing this for us. It’s crazy how much this affects us and we don’t know
