Giant snakes discover a squirrel--battle as squirrel watches. Taken by winner.

Snakes are beautiful reptiles. ❤

Inspired by our behind-the-scenes friend at Coyote Peterson's Brave Wilderness. Many thanks for tips, hints, and inspiration. We love you guys; keep up the great work!

Video taken on May 27, 2019 of an anaconda (Eunectes murinus) and a reticulated python (Python reticulatus) taking a frozen-thawed feeder squirrel during our visit to South America.

Giant snakes discovered on farm during a trip to South America. Frozen-thawed feeder made to look live for dramatic effect of story-telling with professional highly-paid reptile actors.

Meal is a frozen-thawed feeder. Controlled situation by a professional crew. Snakes should be fed separately, especially large snakes.

The green anaconda is the largest snake in the world by weight. Longest snake in the world is the Reticulated python, seen in video as a comparison.

A snake's lower jaw is not joined by an elastic ligament at the front (chin) that allows the two halves to spread apart, connected in front by an elastic ligament. Each half of lower jaw moves independently.

Quadrate bones at the back of snake's skulls at attachment points to lower jaws, are not rigidly attached. They pivot allowing vertical and horizontal rotation. This allows ingestion of large prey such as this pig.

Shows the pterygoid walk of snake's jaws. Quadrate bones at back of snake's skulls at attachment points to lower jaws are not rigidly attached. They pivot allowing vertical and horizontal rotation. This allows ingestion of large prey such as this pig.

This video focuses on the science of snake behavior to support a master's thesis. Video is for citation for junior high school, high school science reports.

Jaws of snakes do not dislocate. One of the enduring myths of snake feeding mechanisms is that the jaws detach. They stay connected all the time. As seen in the video, the two lower jaws move independently of one another. The quadrate bone is not rigidly attached to the skull, but articulates with the skull at one end and is therefore free moving.

Video shows the “transport cycle” to get the pig into the python's belly. Called a pterygoid walk, the python opens its jaw and alternately ratchets its upper jaw over the surface of the meal, in turn “walking” its mouth over and around the prey.

Oh It looks like chipper was a pregnant female (sighs) more protein 😂😂😂

For a second I thought this video was about two of the world's strongest stealthy killers battling it out as the description stated. It should have been titled "Fat pet snakes hand fed again"

I love how the snakes don’t even acknowledge each other’s presence

Python: I'm the longest snek on earth. Anaconda: Hold my muscles.

Chipper is sound asleep. Me: Chipper looks dead already.
  • @dicksledge2447
No snake fight, dead ass squirrel, clickbait. Pretty sure the squirrel's name isn't chipper either.

Python eating the squirrel Anaconda: where’s my pig?
  • @Cduble
“Last time a “Neighbor kid” tried to rescue a bunny from our anacondas” then proceeds to basically say the snakes murdered the children

You just have to watch this on mute and it’s a lot more interesting

Woman: Chipper why won't you wake up?? Me: .. I think Chipper is already dead. 😳

This channel cracks me up, the reading of the comments is glorious.
  • The Anaconda probably saying here to the Python, " Mate, you go and eat up the squirrel now ... and i will eat you up later on!" 😉

Python - eating rabbit and Winning Green anaconda - Where is my wild boar?
  • Are you kidding, the damn squirrel is OBVIOUSLY dead 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
  • @kashmello
That is literally a decomposing squirrel.

On the close up shot of the squirrel when the retic was approaching, you could clearly see ticks filling the other side of it's face, and flies had doubtless laid countless eggs in it already. I understand it's a lot harder to get "frozen-thawed" prey for giant snakes like these, but using roadkill is just inhumane, a snake likely wouldn't eat a rotting animal even in the wild. Not to mention the parasites and health problems that come with feeding long dead animals to your snakes. Most of the dislikes and comments aren't from people who just don't like snakes/are uncomfortable or scared of them. As a snake owner myself, most of the negative comments I see are about the inhumane practices shown (not live feeding, but decomposing, parisite ridden feeding). Please reconsider your feeding choices, a lot of these videos only serve to distance new people from the snake community.
