Ok saw this will browsing one of those fishy websites and had give this dangerous looking attachment a try. This apparently is a grinder attachment for carving wood, cutting wood and plastic and soft materials. This thing just looks plain dangerous, essentially a chainsaw blade mounted on a circular grinder attachment. Chainsaw angle grinder anyone?

"I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to do with this thing" This should instantly tell you that you shouldn't be using it.

This man is a cartoon character. He's Ned Flanders in appearance, voice, mannerisms and clothing but he's Homer Simpson in his recklessness and coordination.

I think the key lesson here is that the Operator needs to be at least as sharp as the Tool.

When the video slowed way down and the lights appeared to start flashing, I could swear he was about to die.
  • That's badass...it cut like a champion. I'm going to buy some today, get into my safety shorts, beach sandals and try to cut out every knotted up pallet I can find.

I was flinching as I watched this dude make his initial cuts, waiting for it to dig in and wrench itself out of his hands. He went from softwood to that knot that’s when I was closing my eyes.

"wow, that makes a mess in a hurry." Yeah, dude, it's a chainsaw.

Operates a carving tool like a miter saw dressed like a tourist in a “work” shop. Next uses a table saw to remove paint from the side of his house.

He says the attachment is dangerous. Then he uses his grinder backwards, with the handle on the wrong side for the way he is holding it. Also, it's made to use like a grinder. Not a circular saw.

I had a lot of old pipes and rebar to cut up and from what I read youtube.com/post/UgkxPDBfLu68o58Aw85O_J-zIFfjJARBh… this would be the tool for the job. Since I had never used one, I watched a couple of youtube videos and I'm so glad I did. Some really good safety tips, which I followed, and this tool did a splendid job. One good thing to know is the weight of the tool puts just about the right amount of pressure on the metal I was cutting, so I didn't have to use a lot of pressure, which is more likely to jam the tool. It made fast work of my job.

“This thing does not look safe” - immediately throws caution to the wind

A colleague of mine was using one of these on these on site to shape a piece of timber. It's a really good thing he was wearing gloves because when he ran it through the two of his fingers I didn't have to scratch around on the floor looking for them, they were hanging in neat little pouches by the remaining threads of the gloves. Surgeon was able to reattach them but with the knuckles destroyed his fingers are half an inch shorter and don't flex anymore. This tool is seriously dangerous and the damage it does to flesh and bone cannot be underestimated. Definitely the most gruesome injury I've had to treat on site. Please do not treat these blades casually and use all of extra guards if you ever need to use one!

I think this guy needs to watch Youtube videos, not make them.
  • This is hands down the best comment section I have ever seen, lmao.

This was filmed in 2019, I'm guessing if he's not dead by now he's missing a few fingers or an eye.

the most dangerous angle grinder attachment is the person who doesn't know how to use it.
