The Enochian, or better, "angelical language" revealed to Dr. John Dee and Edward Kelley is among the most famous events in the history of western esotericism. While the angelic calls are more famous, the central text of Enochian magic is actually a series of complex grid-like sequences filled with angelic letters and numbers along with long strings of angelic words known variously but most famously as the Liber Loagaeth or the "Book of the Speech of God." This episode explore this mysterious volume in depth from it's reception to what little we know about its contents.

“A pioneer in the swinger scene” under the pic of Edward Kelley is hilarious.
  • “ There is no better drama than Angelic drama “ - excellent quote! Thoroughly enjoyed this .
  • “Rainbow magic wand combo breaker” has me cackling in my office
  • The field of computational linguistics you described seems like it could be an excellent avenue for my own academic path. I'm really interested in the semiotic differences and similarities between how spoken languages and programming languages operate. I feel as if a more generalized, less mechanically oriented, study of programming languages could bring us to an understanding of what "magical" languages throughout history have been designed to accomplish within the hardware of the human brain.

These guys are like the Beavis and Butthead of the 16th century. Someone should make a comedy movie about their misadventures.

Your humour and indepth knowledge is what makes you a powerful teacher, Dr Sledge!! glad to see your subscribers are growing!! love your content. Your observation about the theme of Dee and Kelley's questioning ("treasure") and the angels trying to steer them correctly, reminds of reading casteneda describing himself writing incessantly while don juan made fun of his obsession with scribbling, but the irony that we have detailed capturing of what was said at his loss of understanding at the time... ty for your videos, they are excellent
  • I guess you could say, Dee and Kelley were Livin' The Liber Loagaeth...

You are one of my new favorite teachers. Probably the only person on earth that can articulate material like this on a level that can cross cultural boundaries and crack some pretty thick ice using intellecutal humor. Thank you for your work.

Your best video yet ! Our evolution lies within the word. The transcendence of our language into a higher form. A language where you can "see" what the person means.

Yes, these two were an awful though incredibly interesting influence on each other, it seemed almost inevitable that things would degenerate into an alchemical fear and loathing in central Europe. It's amazing that what is usually a fairly serious subject has such an element of farce with this gruesome twosome, I don't think you missed a single instance of this, very well done. Most people in Dee's position would have perhaps said the banishment spell very slowly when Kelley was being beaten by shovels, luckily for Kelley Dee was a good bro, too good infact.
