Saw Corvette Summer at the drive in, one of those all nighter dusk-til-dawn movie marathons that my aunt Rita would take me to when I stayed at her place on the occasional weekend. It was mid October, near the end of drive-in season so they crammed as many movies into those last couple weekends as possible. Corvette Summer, The Boys Of Company C, Jaws 2 and Dawn Of The Dead, I was 8, fell asleep 10 minutes into Jaws 2, woke up just before Dawn Of The Dead which is still my all time favourite movie. I also wanted Luke Skywalker's Corvette, it was badass. I liked The Boys Of Company C too, had that same Drill Sergeant from Full Metal Jacket.

I own Corvette Summer on DVD and watch it at least once a year! Great fun from a throwback movie!
  • Brilliant as ever MFP. More films that have been lost and forgotten but now thanks to your hard work brought into focus. Extra fact with regard to 'Shaker Run', it co-starred '70's singer Leif Garrett.
  • The fact that their is no "Catch Me If You Can (1989)" is just wrong lol
  • Shaker Run was brilliant, a great Kiwi movie, and Goodbye Pork Pie was great too

    - Is this as fast as we're going to go? - We aren't going fast, we're just cruising. I'll let you know when we're going fast. I love that line since I heared it for the first time some 35 years ago.😄

Wow! The Last Chase! I haven't thought about that in 40 years. I remember watching it as a kid, I thought it was badass.
  • Great vid MFP! Watch Out We’re Mad and The Italian Job are still one of my favourite car chase movies. Both movies used Remy Julienne Stunt Team. 😉
  • The main character from Goodbye Pork Pie looks like Johnny the Boy from Mad Max!
  • I regret not buying Corky's Barracuda back when I worked Bob Butts Fantasy Cars back in 1977. But $2500 seemed a bit expensive! lol I never thought it would be valuable, I planned to restore it!

Why have I never heard of Shaker Run?! I remember 'Watch Out We're Mad'. That was a drive-in theatre regular.
  • "White lightening" with Burt Reynolds doesn't get enough recognition.

Goodbye Pork Pie. One of the best cars chase movies of all time
  • @4ndy530
I've watched Goodbye Pork Pie about 200 times growing up in NZ. Shirl was a stunner!
  • I try to get my car buddy's to love and like Corvette Summer the way I do ..They say it's corney and cheap..I'll watch it any time❤ ..side note the original name for that movie was "stingray" But as you know it was taken.

You overlooked another great car chase movie, "Cannonball!" which starred David Carradine of Kung Fu fame, Veronica Hamel of Hill Street Blues, and was directed by the late Paul Bartel.
