Toto were formed in LA in the late 70's by a group of friends who were all much in demand session musicians. They went on to epitomise the classic American pop/rock sound of the 80's and 90's with hit albums and singles including Hold The Line, Africa, I Won't Hold You Back and the multi-Grammy winning Rosanna.

Live In Amsterdam was recorded in front of a fanatical crowd in 2003 during the world tour in support of their album "Through The Looking Glass". The set includes all their hits, tracks from that album together with live favourites.

This track is from the full concert DVD "Live in Amsterdam", available now from Eagle Vision.

That drummer is smooth. He needs more love in these comments.

I might be mistaken, but this is so epic Can we hit 5000 litres of rain in Africa
  • Mike Pocaro was the funkiest bass player in Rock n Roll!! So underrated!!

I was 13 in the 80's and was calling in this song to the radio station to ask them to play it..... sometimes i waited for over an hour for them to answer, and then 3 hours for them to play it. Now I can hear it whenever I want..... this generation has no idea.

It's great to see Bobby Kimball on stage in much better times than what he's going through now, at 73 and suffering from the early stages of dementia and severe hearing loss. I don't care whether they used a backing track or whatever else here, in his prime Bobby was one of the great voices in music, and he was a huge part of the success of Toto and the incredible body of work they put together. I think we should all put some respect on his name.

I believe that somewhere in the world, there are people who feel the same emotions that I feel when I listen to masterpieces like this song.
  • I’d pay for the entire concert JUST to hear them play this song. Seriously. The concert could just consist of this song over and over for an hour and I’d pay a hundred bucks + for it.

Can we take a moment to appreciate the cleanest drum fill ever at 3:28 ? Simon Phillips is a heavily underrated drummer.

This is sooo painful to watch now - I attended this concert. RIP Mike Porcaro. Gone, but never forgotten.

They still looked great 20 years ago. I have good memories of listening to them in high school. They weren't considered a "cool" group but we all tapped our toes to their stuff. Africa is a great tune.

How does that drummer manage to look like a 13 year old kid and 50 year old guy at the same time ?
  • @BoxTunnel
As a classic rock, metal and punk fan for some reason I've loved this song since I first heard it. As a bass player and as a chap who appreciates Mike Porcaro's talent, there is no place in any song ever for a flippin' bass solo!
