My guess would be that they use the name as a unique key or indexed the table on that column resulting in that you couldn't have two people sharing the same name ("Jeffrey2" should've worked tho...). And no, there's no reasonable scenario you would do that on a user table, but it's possible xD

Not only is the memorization of an entire Scrabble dictionary impressive in and of itself. The ability to win is still a feat in and of itself. Just because you know all of the words, doesn't mean you can recall the best ones fast enough for the situation.
