I must've heard this song over 1,000 times and it is still as good as the first time I heard it, one of the greatest songs ever made.

My dad sang this to me most nights instead of a lullaby I wouldn’t trade those memories for the world

Turned on to Maiden by my childhood best friend Jason. Who was taken at the young age of just 15. That gutted me... rip bro, God knows I'll see you. See you on the other side!!!
  • At 58 years old this song still gives me the adrenaline rush it did at 16!!!! My all time fave Iron Maiden Jam!!! UP THE IRONS!!!!
  • Love these types of bands. You can close your eyes and see the story unfolding like a movie in your head. The best story tellers of all time right here.

I'm waiting in my cold cell when the bell begins to chime Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time 'Cause at 5 o'clock, they take me to the Gallows Pole The sands of time for me are running low Running low, yeah! When the priest comes to read me the last rites Take a look through the bars at the last sights Of a world that has gone very wrong for me Can it be that there's some sort of error? Hard to stop the surmounting terror Is it really the end, not some crazy dream? Somebody, please tell me that I'm dreaming It's not easy to stop from screaming The words escape me when I try to speak Tears flow, but why am I crying? After all, I'm not afraid of dying Don't I believe that there never is an end? As the guards march me out to the courtyard Somebody cries from a cell, "God be with you" If there's a God, why has he let me go? As I walk, my life drifts before me Though the end is near I'm not sorry Catch my soul, it's willing to fly away Mark my words, believe my soul lives on Don't worry now that I have gone I've gone beyond to seek the truth When you know that your time is close at hand Maybe then you'll begin to understand Life down here is just a strange illusion Yeah-yeah-yeah, hallowed be thy name Yeah-yeah-yeah, hallowed by thy name Yeah
  • My Dad got me into Iron Maiden back in 1997 when I was in 8th grade one of the greatest times of my life truly blessed to still have him

"Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil." God be with you.🤘 - fellow maiden head

Best metal song I ever heard in the 80’s. Still the best metal song I’ve ever heard in 2023.

A masterpiece of medieval rock. Multiple melodic movements. Dramatic operatic vocals and lyrical content. Driving rhythms with amazing percussion.

When I was a teen, I bought this album because the cover was cool. I immediately took it home and threw it on the record player. I immediately became a fan for life.
  • Maiden is definitely my favorite rock band from the 80s. I've seen them live probably 10 times. Every show was awesome. They always ended on hallowed be thy name. What a great song the guitars the vocals and drums always perfect. Steve Harris on the bass is ridiculous. I saw them 3 years ago lucky they came to my city. They sounded the same as when I was a 15 year old kid. That was 40 years ago. Awesome band!
  • Best metal song ever. From the atmosphere, the lyrics/meaning, Bruce’s vocals, the pacing of the song, the drum transitions, the riffs, the dual solo and outro. This song has it all. There’s only a few bands in the history of rock that could write a song like this and execute. It’s an 100/100.

12 yrs old early 80s stoned out of my mind staring at this album cover on a black light poster with this song turned up to 11. Still hits just right even at sober!
