In 2015 we visited the workshop of Mike Senna, a droid builder who has made his own R2-D2 and Wall-E robots. Mike's next project is recreating the BB-8 droid featured in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens! We discuss what's known so far about how BB-8 was built for the film, how a remote-controlled model could be built, and take apart a BB-8 Sphero to see if we can learn anything from the small-scale toy!

This is just a little advice for the people in this channel. You have great content but when interviewing people you should do less talking and more asking and listening. Make your guests the focus more. They spend most of the time listening to the interviewer here. Just trying to help.

I agree with everyone else when they said to let Mr. Senna talk. We know that Norm has a basic knowledge of robotics but we want to hear the person being interviewed actually speak on something that he is very knowledgeable at.
  • @Deathlives3000
Why did they visit Mike if norm was going to do all the talking? I wanted to see more of that guy.

The interviewer is pretty full of himself. "so what do you think is the reason for the wobbling of it?" "Well I can't see any mechanical stableness" "That's right, I knew that and now I'm going to give you a lecture on how to make the perfect sandwich".
  • Wait......if you make one of these 1000 times bigger.......you could make the gyrosphere from jurassic world

my guess as to why the shell was so thick is so it could create more distance between the magnets causing less friction during movement. This is probably why it was so wobbly when they put it in the clear shell.

"be real careful" punches it i love this guy
  • @nedsrandom
he acts like he's an expert in front of an expert this guy knows this stuff already !
  • I think it's hilarious that every person Norm talks to is just like can you stop being the way you are 😂
  • @sumgt513
Norm interviews a genius in robotics, than wont let the guy speak and instead tries to explain everything himself.
  • @mad_nice
Wow, Wolverine has really let himself go.
  • Norman please let the experts talk. I understand you're excited, but please calm down.
  • @Kipah
Mike that the best hair in the world.

"Hey! let's go visit a robotics expert and make him stand there while Norm gives an inadequate elementary explanation of how a toy works"

BB-8 The name is so simple and genius in the same time. Perfect!
