  • Stoke is no joke! I was surprised that 12 combustion chamber engine worked, but they did it. Its a radically different design and its good someone is investigating it. Hope they can re-use both stages in commercial service. The Firefly 24 hour challenge was awesome too.

It wasn't their first static fire, but rather the first hop test. They'd had several prior static fires.
  • @NoblePineapples
Tim from the Everyday Astronaut channel has a very cool tour of Stoke's facility. It is so unbelievably cool what they are doing in terms of design. It's an aerospike after all!
  • @bluesteel8376
I thought SpaceX still needed approval from a fish and wildlife agency?
  • @willud8699
This reminds me of Chrysler's SERV from the early 1970s, an SSTO design as a shuttle alternative. It also had an aerospike engine in a similar configuration and was intended to be fully reusable. A great concept, but rejected by military requirements. I hope Stoke gets it done

Stop calling SpaceX Starship launch a mishap. It is a test bed that made it off of the Launch Pad as predicted. The damage to the stand was also predicted. They were in the process of building the new water deluge system and planned on incorporating it on the next launch, which will happen very soon now. The best we can hope for on the next launch is if Starship separates from the booster. That's it. That's the next goal. If it has an unpredictable disassembly then fine, it's a test.
  • @alexlabs4858
And here we are already approaching the third starship flight! Launch cadence is improving!
  • @Junyo
Unfortunately, this video is based on the WRONG ASSUMPTIONS (aka bad research). The FAA has stated yesterday that there won't be a final ok before late October, but that a launch license also depends on the OK by the wildlife organization that might take a bit longer. Anyway...no launch for AT LEAST another month/4 weeks. End of October AT THE EARLIEST. Not "very soon" as this video states.
  • @NathanRae
Glitch transitions make my epileptic eyes and brain hurt. Apart from those, great video.
  • @darioruiz5359
The first stage engines are methane and are still under development. The second stage engines seen in the video are hydrogen, not methane.
  • @stubbysidwell
Great video. I watched the testing of the firefly rocket on the SlowMoGuys channel.
  • @The_Isaiahnator
I'm really excited about Stoke Space. The way they reconfigured a few things to separate their upper stage from all others is genius. Rocket Lab's Neutron Rocket is pretty cool as well, but Stoke has made the bigger innovation IMO.
  • @NicholasNerios
Love hearing about the private companies. And what's up with the fish and wildlife agency stopping SpaceX?
  • @jhill4874
I would like to see tech like this and Dream Chaser mated up with Falcon Heavy.
  • @AChanceOfReign
Each day, we're getting closer to having full-on Starships from Sci-Fi media. I need my Millennium Falcon!
  • NGL, Stoke engine test burn looked very "STEAM PUNK" with the flames coming out near the nosecone while the engines were running.
  • @colinberg3342
Terran R is fully reusable too. Also New Glenn will be eventually.
  • You sure Stoke Space's engine ring is methane powered? It seemed they were going for hydrogen powered engines to take advantage of greater ISP in space on their second stage.
