I appreciate the time lapse explanation. When I started learning Blender in 2020 my biggest struggle feeling that I was taking too long to work through a my creations. Now I understand that I need to be patient with myself. For me the journey is the fun part.

One thing I learned the hard way was that if at any point the creature needs to open it's mouth - that is to either talk, or bark or or anything really - you'll have to do something for the inside of the mouth. On that basis, I just have them with their mouth open anyway.

The addition of the curves to the mane and tail certainly made a worthwhile difference.

This is awesome. I love your series of sculpting videos. And thank you work mentioning the time it took you to make this model. Good to know that a master like you needs a lot of time too.

Been watching your intro to rigging and animation and its fantastic, so glad I found it. The fact you can do the whole gamut of character work from modeling straight through to animation and rendering is awesome, crazy good skill

You make some fun step-by-step tutorial globally, but this one is clearly the best of all, the unicorn looks cute and creepy and I love the pose !

Amazing job Grant! I love these videos. I was following along with your character creation class and was scultping a fairly simple beast head, and wasnt satisfied so I made the mistake of sculpting a body and joined everything together, remeshing until it was small enough to get the fingers not to be a single piece. I should have just separated the fingers more. My resulting sculpt ended up to be over 7 million tris and my computer couldnt handle subdividing anymore. Do you find it better to leave components of the mesh separated until there is a certain level of detail? If I'm going to have clothing or something that covers the seam, would it be better to leave it in pieces? Thanks!

Great video, do you create items for people? If so how much do you charge per item if you do? Thanks.

If that unicorn is an enforcer for the equestrian mob 😂. It looks good though.

How do you know if you need to take a hard surface approach or a sculpting approach? Or is that an intuition you build over time?
  • @dougmian
Did you use a tool on Blender to make the low poly version or a plug in that makes it?

Just out of curiosity, where did Grant get the reference image? Is it part of his courses?
