El Chepe is perhaps one of the most scenic train journeys I have witnessed. It is an engineering marvel of the Great Mexican people. I am astounded by the beauty of this landscape has. A few years ago, having heard a bit about the ride, I bought a ticket on a whim. Oh my goodness!!! What a ride!! One of the most memorable trips of my life. Worth every peso. I want to do it again.

I took that train some years ago, and I can say with confidence that it is the most underrated thing to do in Mexico. I've traveled throughout the country and it is by far the most beautiful journey you can make. It will take you from up in the mountains, through the desert and the canyons, all the way to the beach. Just breathtaking.
