Like I mentioned, my Leo was sick this past week and had a horrible chesty cough. I was on pinterest looking for home remedies for cough and came across this Honey Compress and decided to try it out!
As a worried mummy I do tend to try everything possible in order to make him feel better!
The ingredients I used - was Flour and Honey
I started with 2tablespoons of flour and used about 2 tablespoons of honey to get the paste to a good consistency - add honey or flour slowly to obtain that texture I just showed you.
I saw a couple of other pins that you could add mustard powder/lemon or gigner juice to this mix - but this is completely optional
I do highly believe in the healing power of Ginger - So I always have that at home in the freezer. I grated some and boiled it and added a couple of drops -maybe a teaspoon to the mix I originally used and as a result of more liquid - had to increase the amount of flour.
As per the pin - it stated you needed a gauze,or a cheese cloth - but as advised I did not have any of these things. So I used:
-a paper towel
-a muslin cloth
-cling warp
As I mentioned, IF you are applying this on children do so for 2-3 hours before their bed time.
Adults can sleep in this for the entire night - just be prepared to sweat a lot apparently.

As I said I did see results after just one application. Leo threw up 3 times (over 3 different days) and it was all Mucus (together with his breakfast - yuck) but this was a good thing! As his body was removing the mucus!
It can be a bit messy when you remove it before the shower - so make sure you remove this when in the bathroom! The mix sticks to the skin so you will have to scrape it off with your fingers - but it is easily removed with a wash cloth and warm water.
Other things I did to help my baby:
-Steamy Shower box
-hot showers before bed - patting his back/chest under the hot water
-Vicks on the sole of his feet for bedtime - also on his back and chest
-Lots and lots of LOVE!

Saw this over a year ago. Admittedly I was hesitant to put this on my daughter. Last night she had a bad cough and I looked for your vid again and I followed your recipe and WOW! My 5 year old coughed only once in the night. My wife was impressed with me. Lol. Kudos and thank you!

Hi just want to give you a big air hug for sharing this remedy. My son was catching an all night coughing attack and has been coughing here and there for weeks. Doctor had plenty of options that included cough medicine wich seem to work temporarily but he would get sick again. Just one application stopped his coughing and his mucus. My kids age 4 year old and 5 months old did the honey wrap for 20-30 min. They have been sick for almost 5 days now even going to the dr and dr saying it’s viral and has to run its coarse. I also added grated ginger root to the mix. After my old ones wrap was over I gave him a bath and within 30 min he ran a high temp and threw up mucus and all. After he threw up he stated he felt better. Shortly after my 5 month old bath to get the honey off of her she threw up milk and mucus as well and seemed to have such relief. I’m a full believer in this now.

This is really amazing remedy i am really thankful to you.... my son was doing coughing from last night couldn't sleep well, today when he try to sleep and doing coughing i cried alot when i saw him doing vomiting and cough that couldn't stop and i tried to search on YouTube any remedie for it and wallah i tried your while he was sleeping i didn't wrap it as he was covered not moving and it give him relief in just 20 min and i am really thankful to you i will pray for you alot

Tried this last night with my 5 year old daughter and it worked! The previous night we were up half the night due to her coughing. Last night a made this poultice and applied it to her chest on a paper towel then wrapped it Saran Wrap. I applied it 2 hours before and removed it 1 hour after she fell asleep ( a total of 3 hours). She did not cough at all the entire night! She did have a coughing spell shortly after she got up , she coughed up a lot of mucus but that has been it minus the occasional cough here and there. It’s amazing. I followed the recipe in the video but I also added 1 tsp of ground ginger to the mix.
