She-Ra & The Princesses of Power Vlogs: SEASON 1 WRAP UP

Published 2020-05-29
My overall thoughts on Season 1 of the show, what I especially liked, my favorite characters & episodes, least favorite characters & episodes. Didn’t intend to go so long in my lengthiest vlog so far, but that’s what happens when you have trouble gathering your thoughts and so many good things about this show.

  • What I love about She-Ra is that every character is a good character writing wise. Even if I personally not like some of them, they are well written and developed characters by the end of the show (even if it takes 4 seasons before they’re mentioned cough Spinerella and Netossa cough) and their personalities are all unique but still play off of each other well while moving the plot forward. I honestly don’t know how they do it XD I also love the queer representation of this show. Even without fan ships and such, the show has numerous canon lgbtq+ relationships (netossa and spinnerella being canonically married) and later on one of my favorite characters is nonbinary. And of course art wise, the character designs are beautifully diverse, especially compared with the original show’s, and the backgrounds and composition are gorgeous. I haven’t officially studied animation or anything, but I animate casually and in my eyes the animation is pretty good, especially when looking at how to properly use short cut techniques (which is not equivalent to being lazy but I won’t get into that here lol) while still creating a great finished product. Regarding season 2 & 3, I’d recommend viewing them a sub parts of one season. I don’t know why, but it seems like Netflix just split it into two seasons, even when they really need the other half to tie it together. I’m not going to complain about Netflix doing that because it’s not going to accomplish anything, but they are part of the same “arc” so they really need to be watched together for everything to make sense.
