Changing of the Guard Inspection

Published 2017-08-25
The Changing of the Guard Ritual is an elaborate ritual that occurs at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and is one of the most popular attractions in Arlington National Cemetery. During The Changing of the Guard Ritual an impeccably uniformed relief commander conducts a detailed white-glove inspection of the incoming Sentinel's weapon, carefully checking each part of the fully functional M14 rifle once.

The precision is actually utter and total respect for those that have a permanent residence at the Tomb. You often hear of a soldier that has passed during combat "giving his all for this great nation". These soldiers buried here also gave there identity. Take notice the guards have no name plates. They are there to guard. Not to have recognition other than "The Guard". /Salute USMC

Holy cow!! And if you don't focus on the detail, it looks like they're not paying attention... until after further review, you realize she is intently inspecting this rifle to every detail, not just going through a rhythm routine! Very intense!!
