Her friends made me cryyyyyyy. You're so used to seeing the friends in the movies bullying the kid or turning their back on them once they start 'changing'.. It was so refreshing to see them not only accept her when they first met, but also stay supportive of her the entire time.

Love how her friends were supportive towards her studying, instead of mocking her for not following the trends.

Everyone's talking about the friends and teacher but what about the mother? She worked double time for the money and was always there for her daughter no matter what she did and even stood up to the father for being so horrible. She was also so persistent in making sure her daughter stayed in school and reaches her highest potential. That's a stellar mom right there Edit : A lot of people are saying that it's a mother's duty and there's no point in me asking to recognise it, because friends in movies don't usually stay by the MC's side, most of the time the popular type. The same towards the teacher, because many teachers get portrayed as a tired, underpaid, toxic person. I recognise all of them, but I can see people talking about them in the comments already. They're appreciated by a lot of people, but I literally haven't seen anyone talking about the mom. That's why I brought her up. I do see that almost everyone on the MC's side is great and supportive, I'm just talking about the underrated one. Edit : Also, thank you for all the likes 😊. It's my first time getting so many

Well that was wholesome as hell -Her mother overworked for her sake -Her tutor being extremely patient -Her friends been very understanding -Her father changed his ways And not to mention… -Her teacher kept his words in the end
  • I really like the fact that the friends are really supportive despite the fact Sayaka became the odd one out within the group -- she's the only one who wanted to enter university, she changed her style, she spent time studying when hanging out. True friends there.
  • @jackhandma1011
Sayaka's real ability is not just being a fast learner. She can study even in a noisy environment where all her friends are having fun.
  • @teacuup
Can we just appreciate her friends? Like, any other friends in dramas like this would've dumped her and made her even more depressed, but they stayed until the end and that's what I love about this.

the way that sayaka was proud of herself when she got 5/100 and the teacher encouraged her was actually really touching to me…progress is progress no matter how slow going it can be sometimes

“Mr. Nishimura is going to jail.” Was said so nonchalantly that I laughed my ass off
  • I loved her mother for being supportive of her children no matter what, it's unconditional love showcased perfectly.

Man, a movie where the main character has social anxiety at first but meets new friends who actually cares for her and supports her dreams, where her parents come around and support her and she ends up doing well for herself. I'm impressed. I didn't expect something so wholesome.

I am so used to seeing toxic popular friends that, her friend group actually suprised me.....I was constantly waiting for her friend group to kick her out or make fun of her for not having fun like them... Imagine a society where being toxic is so normalised that u get suprised when someone is not toxic :/

"The schools job is to teach its weakest students, not profit off the smartest" I should tell this to my school
  • @BelatedBlade
When it began with her getting a knock on the head, I was worried she would magically overcome her struggles through another random knock on the head. Instead, this story was about hard work and dedication. Thank you for this one, man.

Mr. Tsubata is an excellent example of what a teacher should be. He’s supportive, helpful, and overall just an amazing teacher. While this may not work in real life, it’s what a lot of teachers should aim to be. The mother is also incredibly impressive, working so hard for her daughter.
  • her teacher gave it his all and believed in her, her friends were supportive even when she changed, her mother worked hard to support her, and her dad turned a new leaf. wholesome, wholesome! love it.

I loved the fact that despite she got distanced from her friends, They did not dare to also distance themselves that much and didn't say anything about not wanting to be friends or anything negative. They were very understanding despite that she was the odd girl in the friend group, And they never cared for that. This is literally the best jackpot you would get, You can achieve anything with the right people!

Finally a movie where the friends are supportive and want to help her get better, even when she’s the odd one out and changes. I’m so glad that there’s finally not a toxic popular friend group

Its nice to see some positive reinforcement from all angles. Specifically the mother and friends. Lets be honest, everyone was expecting them to just bully her or ignore her once she went out studying instead of partying. Its so annoying to see that in movies constantly. Even the father turned it around.

I really enjoyed how suppoirtive the friends were. Usually in movies such as these, the "delinquent" friends are always a limiting factor for the protagonist's success but in this case, they serve as a motivating factor. Super refreshing to see and speaks to the strength of friendship between the characters.
