Cool video, I liked showcasing the stuff you can do with it at the end I do understand why they wouldn’t add the float-tater to vanilla minecraft, due to the simple reason that it would invalidate slime block flying machines. Why put the effort in designing, figuring out how piston mechanics work, and constructing complicated moving parts when you could slap a block on your build to make it move? That’s appealing to a lot of people, but I think Minecraft strives when it limits its options and forces people to be creative with what they have, that’s probably the joke behind the float-tater I think.

Its a big tease, we have litteral shipwrecks and end ships, making it canon that its possible to move, they just haven't IMPLEMENTED it.

a few times as a kid i built stuff like cars and rocket ships and put levers there and tried driving it thinking it would work only for it to do nothing. ( stampys rocket inspired me to do it. ) i got sad when it didnt work. but now i can bring life to them again.

Honestly i just want a way to have a traveling building so i can take my home anywhere
  • @timer192
Bigger builds will work if you put multiple floataters
  • @Venalii1
Pro tip for everyone, if you wire up multiple flotaors with red stone you can make them go MUCH faster. Also if you ever need to stop your creations, the floatato block ((the one you can place in mid air)) can be placed in front of any block of your creation and it’ll stop.

ur not the only person who has gotten happiness from this block. 10/10 mojang NEEDS to add it as a normal vanilla block
  • I think it’d be a good feature in the End update due to Shulkers already having a “floating” ability… I’ve always thought that the End Ships were powered by Shulker Bullets and were used to hunt the enderdragons. If this Block were to be crafted somehow with Shulker Bullets it’d be amazing

Things that would need to be fixed would be to have a limit the amount of blocks allowed to move, allow entitie blocks to move as well, and some sort of turning system as well. And when ever you stop your ship from moving it will automatically go into the closest block so it can stay adjacent

I really would want this in the game but it would be a little buggy, but man this would be so cool in the game They always add the cool stuff in April fools updates but rarely in the actual updates (The grappling hook thing legit looks so fun to use)

I have very high hopes it gets added to vanilla for a few reasons. (1) "Floatater" sounds like a genuine name for a utility block despite the pun. (2) It also would be a great addition to 1.21's dungeony theme. Looks as if it could be crafted with Breeze Rods or Wind Charges dropped by the Breeze mob in the trial chambers. (3) I would love to see them implement floatater mechanics within the trial chamber structures themselves. There are a few examples of mojang including Redstone mechanics in structures like the jungle temple, woodland mansion ect... maybe it could be used as an elevator platform, a sliding door, or maybe just for parkouring. The possibilities are endless. It would seem like a great waste of potential if they didnt

this joke update was the best update in a while.

You gotta love the pizza tower character selection music for the outro

oh uh btw its only slow because you're only using ONE floatater. place down like 5, and it's some of the best transportation EVER.
  • @Sedero
It's always the coolest features that always get the response of "Oh well that just doesn't fit the game" or "minecraft is good because it limits players and forces them to be creative". I've even seen the argument that the floatater is too strong. I can understand the first two (Although I still disagree), but we literally have an item that grants infinite flight at speeds higher than the rate of chunk generation, and items that revive you after death. Anyways, I hope both the floatater and the grappling hook gets added. The more mobility options the better.
  • @GamerAleatoorio
Im my opinion this is the best block that ever passed in minecraft!

Idea. If there ever comes an end update, a cool way to traverse the end would be these ships. Maybe certain end “biomes” are sectioned of from each other through emptier void areas. So getting the materials for some kind of floatater from a boss or dungeons could bring some more progression to the end. Having these ships be angled that there is something special in front of them as a kind of signpost could make navigating the end also a little less randomized and more interesting, because seeing a boat would mean that there is something in that direction. You wouldn’t even have to use the boat and this implementation would add something interesting to exploration. P.s. I know that balancing and implementing this could be a headache.

My sea base is 175 blocks in radius. It is very large and circular with circular outposts on different sides. I would love the floatater so that I can have a flying sea base. It would look like my version of the Atlantian base from Stargate Atlantis
