  • "Where do they get babies from...for tv shows?" I've never been so happy to hear a doctor finish a sentence.

The phrase Dr. Mike was thinking of was "don't think about a pink elephant." A 'White Elephant' is a gift exchange where everyone brings a silly gift that will be more trouble for the recipient to use or get rid of than the cost of the gift. It's named for the tradition of bringing white elephants to the Thai King.

    6:00 " That's not a bone'" Love the quick, deadpan response.🤭

I miss this show! How I Met Your Mother got me thru a lot of lonely nights when I was renting a room in another state during a co-op semester in college. No cable, just local Channels. Man, I feel old! Lol
  • My kid was a baby model, so I have a bit of insight into this. Basically, babies have agents, like Sam said. My kid was accepted into a "school" designed specifically for child actors, and they accept everything from newborns to middle-schoolers. After middle school, the kid actors would typically have some other type of acting agency into which they would be registered. The school had a huge 300-page catalog of headshots of all the students which directors would peruse to find the right kid to cast. The school had acting and oration classes to prepare kids to be on TV. For babies and toddlers, it would be about training them to smile on cue or do cute baby things without crawling all over the place. For older kids, it was script reading and emoting. My own kid was only ever in one "how babies play" type video, and we pulled him out after that. It was very tough for him because of the long hours and need to stay focused (1yo kids can't focus). Not to mention the crazy parents trying to turn their kids into stars.

Often these babies are ultra life-like dolls. They are made extremely well and are so realistic it's almost scary. You can find pictures and videos of those dolls, and how they are made
  • Dr. Mike is such a blessing with his looks and his humor and his kindness. I love his channel. He's so special

As a labor nurse one of the number one questions that I ask support people is “Are you a passer-outer? ‘Cause if you are, and if you do, this isn’t your show. You’ll be down there a while”. And I’m not taking care of you- off to the ED you go 😂😂
  • @Sportydan11

My friend’s wife is a midwife near London. her department was contacted by the BBC to ask if they had any new mums who wanted their baby on drama series Call the Midwife. Their son was two months old at the time so was volunteered and appeared as a newborn girl baby in an episode about post partum depression.

I was a baby featured in Disco Pigs, Cillian Murphy's breakout role. My Mum was a friend of a nurse who knew people who were consulting for the movie. No I was not credited.

Always amuses me when reactors say, “that newborn baby is NOT a newborn baby.” Do you think parents of newborns are really going to take their newborn babies to TV or movie studios? I imagine they consider themselves lucky to get a baby that’s only a month old to play a newborn.

I have such a big crush on Dr. Mike and I am very happily married. It has nothing to do with his looks, but man, his passion for medicine and his compassionate manner of speaking about patients and their experiences… 🥰 I wish him all the success in his career.
