  • meryl streep was actually born with an incredibly serious congenital condition that forces her to slay at all times it's an incredibly heavy burden to carry
  • You just KNOW Nate is the kind of guy who shits on people for carrying a purse instead of using pockets but also has his girlfriend carry all his crusty crap in it.

the "why is noone reeadyyy" line gets me EVERY time. like this is the most irritated anyone has ever genuinely sounded on film. period. meryl invented irritation.

Emily’s ending line “You have some VERY big shoes to fill. I hope you know that.” to Andy’s replacement is so iconic & gets me every time

Can we talk about how Miranda slays her silver hair? In an industry that sets women to colour their hair constantly to hide their age, she is glorious in her silver hair.

OKAY BUT LIKE YALL DONT GET IT BC WHEN MIRANDA SMILES AT THE END ITS A MAJOR DEAL BECAUSE ITS A CALLBACK TO EARLIER IN THE MOVIE WHEN NIGEL SAYS "theres a scale. one nod is good. two nods is very good. there's only been one actual smile on record" AND THE SMILE SHE GIVES AT THE END TO ANDY SHOWS HOW SHE APPROVES OF HER AND GENUINELY SEES HER AS A SUCCESS
  • Miranda’s performance is REVOLUTIONARY. She chose to study performances by Clint Eastwood and other strong male actors in preparation for this role. She wanted to assert dominance and power while only speaking in soft tones. Making others have to lean on and pay attention every time she spoke. It’s crazy how she was able to master making you feel yelled at while talking so quietly! You could really feel the hostility with each look. At the same time we caught glimpses of her as a human being with emotions. Over all, Chilling, incredible, perfection.

Mike's point of IBS (integrity before slaying) is borderline philosophical. Integrity has a certain element of pride and therefore Ego. Ego is a direct cause of shame. You cannot be ashamed of yourself to slay, ergo -> the shedding of pride and ego. Ego Death = Slay. And yet, crickets from TedTalk.
  • Petition for a remake of Devil Wears Prada, a scene for scene copy of the original, but with Mike playing Miranda

Her boyfriend was so crusty i can't believe the whole time we were supposed to root for his "message" that andy should stop her slay to be with his unemployed crusty flop ass . that's the only part of the movie that will NEVER sit right with me

what i love about mikes terrifying uncanny ability to recite iconic pop culture moments and movie scenes is that it skirts around the broken copyright on youtube like there’s no need to show clips girlie is a one man show
  • You didn’t mention how actually devastating it is when Miranda turns back and sees Andy isn’t there - she looks so lost. Meryl Streep is the best actress of all time. /scene

I don’t use the phrase “hit the slay button” lightly, but I do in fact think this movie did exactly that
  • Can we talk about the scene where Andy's phone starts to ring, and her friends grab it and start tossing it around, and Andy calls them a**holes, and her friends act all offended? They're toying with her livelihood in a totally childish way. I would have been mad too.

“absolute rodent behaviour” every sentence of this video is absolute gold and the outfit is also gold love the prada love the blue on you

If Andy’s boyfriend was respectful and Andy had half a brain - they could have easily communicated that her job was gonna be a LOT for a year and they would just have to get through it together.. she’ll miss important dates, she’ll work overtime, but it’s for a good reason and for a year. But NO, apparently maturity doesn’t exist.

Can we just talk about the look on Miranda's face when she says "everyone wants this" not only tells US that she has a hard time with it, but tells us that SHE is aware she has a hard time with it. She has several of those looks, so subtle and quick, another being the "why would I cancel" when she's crying about the divorce. She knows exactly why, she just knows she can't afford too and it stings. To portray that in such a subtle and quick way speaks volumes to the casting, directing, and writing.

In the belt scene, the assistant wasn't even saying the colors were different, it was the buckle that's different. Goes to show how oblivious Andy was
