Only played the original trilogy and read canon novels of that period, Gears of War has such a good story and lore. I liked the fact that the Locust were not simply generic genocidal monsters slaughtering without reason but instead were in a desperate death struggle of their own with the Lambent for years before E-Day and were essentially forced to the surface of Serra. The Locust had been aware of Humanity for a long time observing the very real destructive and untrustworthy nature of Humans especially during the 79 year Pendulum Wars. The Locust studied Humanity to the point that they deemed that Humans would never accept the Locust co-inhabiting the surface and would inevitably make War on them. With this is mind the Locust thought that their only chance of survival would be to launch a preemptive strike against the Humans wiping as many out as possible before then proceeding to colonise the surface. Gears is great because it is not a simple black and white good vs evil story it is about two species fighting for survival any way that they can that have been pushed against each other by a more deadly and persistently aggressive outside force.

"The humans of Sera built a glorious civilization. But humans were not destined to create. They inevitably did what they do best: destroy" - Myrrah , Locust Queen.

This sheds a new light on them and filled in any gaps I had regarding them after playing through games 1-3. Would like to see more on the enemies of this series if you can

Great video as always FCE, I was wondering something, have you ever considered doing a video on something from a book? Odd question but I’ve always wondered 😂😂😂
  • Nice video as always, would you mind doing a vid on I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream?
  • I honestly kinda feel bad for the locusts in the way, they were basically pushed out of their home, their girlfriends are psychotic brutes and then they all got wiped out. I mean they came back as the swarm so they got the last laugh but still
  • @Thomas20Smith
Gears is one of my favorite series, glad to see ya doing an analysis on the horde. Would love to see the Lambent, The Swarm, The COG and the UIR
