No one. No one who wasn’t there in this magical time can understand what gaming was like then. Every single game was an adventure. A journey. Nothing like this was ever seen before. The beginning. The original. When we played a JRPG it was like diving into a world that became real the moment we turned on our console. Way before competitive online ranked, self promoting social media or let’s plays. No internet for walkthroughs or reviews. Just you and the game, completely diving in into a world that was alive. When gameplay and story mattered more than graphics and frames. Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 7. All these gems that brought the characters and story alive. Those times will never comeback. Gaming will always evolve. But we were there when it was in it’s purist form.

Now this is how you do a trailer for a long running IP. Just lean right into the warm fuzzy blanket of nostalgia

Whoever made that commercial needs a raise... let's just hope it captures the original magic of the early games of the series.

When he plugged in that yellow cable behind the TV as a kid…I felt that.

This put a tear in my eye. That era of gaming and life was special. That sense of wonderment we had as kids growing up on games and cartoons. Daily life try to force us to give up what we loved but it's hard because it keeps us alive. That's the real point of this trailer

The song when the boy picked up that game at the beginning.. holy nostalgic time traveling

It warms my heart that Square Enix used nostalgia in honor of their Mana/SD games. Melodies from Legend of Mana OST for the ps1 will forever be engraved in my mind.
