In the sequel trilogy R2D2 is bumped down to a secondary role, He's one of my favorite characters along with all the original cast but in the recent films he's more of a background character

Ashame they couldn't have made like a Teacher and apprentice relationship with these two. It would've been really interesting seeing how the two would bounce off of each other more. Plus I could see BB developing the same habit of throwing some dirt on 3PO while also forming a friendship with him like R2 did.
