  • Nothing wrong with rhythm guitar. Most popular and memorable rock and metal riffs are done by the rhythm guitarist.
  • Everybody talking about 2:23 and I’m here loving that first riff at the beginning of the video.

no one can be lead guitarist without being rhythm guitarists
  • @ChronoPierce
I am a lead guitarist. When someone asks me to play licks, It sounds almost as if it's not the right thing without a rhythm or backing track
  • @macias7125
Soo let me get this straight Rhythm = Riffs Lead= Solos
  • @reelaw3155
Pretty accurate. Only the end is unrealistic normally it would end in a battle of insults about each others mother.

The rhythm guitarist has one of the most underrated, yet memorable jobs. Sometimes he can be the band’s primary songwriter (for example, Izzy Stradlin in Guns N Roses), or he can even be the band leader (Malcolm Young (RIP), Scott Ian, etc). He also plays some of the most iconic riffs (usually letting the lead guitarist get all the glory).

First one is actually sick, I wish there was a full version

2:23 best lead Jared Dines ever produced. After all these years I'm still coming back to this video
  • Lead without rhythm sounds empty, Rhythm without lead sounds dull/repetetive, they are both equally important (my opinion)
  • And then you've got technical death metal, where you basically have 2 lead guitarists, just one hates themselves a bit more

I play lead guitar. Rythym is the foundation of any solo. If you like soloing and you can't play rythym...then pack up go home. Simple as that.
