Hello again! I'm back with another sketchbook! These usually take me 1-2 years to complete, so I always feel really accomplished when I finish that last page. I used a Stillman & Birn Zeta Series mixed media sketchbook, with 26 sheets / 52 pages. Grab a cup of coffee or tea and settle in for a stroll through my pages 💖

Meems - I've watched you grow for 39 years. You never disappoint. I feel like stealing this sketchbook on my next visit. Bravo

Every spread looks amazing but I have a soft spot for the drawing of your cat at the top of the stairs. I love the way you use color, you’re very talented!
  • The drawing of your cat at the top of the stairs was my fav. It would be lovely to see that image as a sticker or print 💜
  • This is the first sketchbook tour I’ve ever watched where I really enjoyed the voiceover commentary! So glad this turned up in my feed and I clicked on it. Going to look at more of your work now…

Nice work! Sometimes I take notes while I watch bc it helps me interact and remember drawings. So the following stood out to me: The use of tea to stain things, particularly effective over words and with that snake (with the rectangle superimposed, vry nice). The color pencil light study had a rly nice effect and you're right, the hand is vry well done. You draw hands well in general. But the hands always do have a similar expression emotively, kinda styled like in Medieval paintings or like those of the Botticelli women or sthg. It would be nice to see them switched up a bit to cover the full range of human hand expression, anger, joy etc...Same goes for the faces, they mostly have the same muted or peaceful expressions. I liked the Van Gogh study a lot. The beard in particular came out interesting and I could see how the study influenced the adjacent drawing of your husband. The post-it collage made for an interesting effect I might borrow. Some of the inlaid small rectangular drawings, one of a house in the woods on the left side of a page spread, and one of the cliffs in Mexico, I felt could be expanded on bc they were intriguing. I enjoyed the first mushroom drawing in the book. I was curious to see the "hideous nude drawing" that was covered by the deer, and maybe some more unfinished "botched" drawings too, more sketch-like drawings in order to show evolution. You have a nice way of drawing letters, like in the Pheonix drawing. The graphite/black n white stuff is a nice interlude.

Ahh "so refreshing for the soul and for the eyes" - love that line about travelling to places so different from home. I talk about it all the time, it's just such a joy to travel and collect all that visual inspiration in new places (:
  • Absolutely loved your spreads and how pretty everything looked. Also your husband's gift was a perfect one for you!

Watched whilst sketching hands.. thank you for reminding me to do so. I think the self-portrait is a genius and horrifying idea. You also got me to buy a stillman and birn and I love it! More videos please❤
